Help getting into the war zone?

I know this is a stupid question, but I am having hard time getting past the war golems to even search the buildings just inside the war zone. What is the trick here. I don't need big spoiler, just get me started. My brain is getting tired.

The original campaign. I remember a war zone, dimly (it's been two years) but I can't remember 'war golems' in the slightest...

In the OC of NWN. At very start of chapter 4, just as you go to the south end of city to find Aribeth and the last stone. I was so tried of fighting when I posted I just wanted some clues as to getting rid of the golems or around them. Which should I do, search that section, or try to get through there to another part of that section of city?

Avoid those Siege Golems. They're 100% immune to piercing, slashing and bludgeoning damage. Spells level 4 and lower won't even scratch them. Add to that they have Regeneration +5, hit hard and can cast a couple spells your way. Bad news for you.

Thanks Val. I was starting to get that feeling when I kept getting beat down. I'll just run and get to the rest of the game.

Ah yes! I remember those things. That is where I stopped playing the OC. Someday I'll go back and finish it ... maybe.

There's every possibility I ignored them or they died a horrible, flaming death via chain lightning and delayed blast fireballs without me breaking stride when I played through.

Unlike the games I review now I confess to only playing through the OC once. The way it was structured I couldn't imagine much difference at all being good or neutral or evil so I played a true neutral wizard (who ended up neutral good by the end of the game) for the sole purpose of making the game break and scream for mercy as fast as possible.

Worked until the last fight, which was aggrevating as a wizard to say the least.

As I remember, there was an evil wizard at the far end of the zone (from your starting point) controlling those golems. Kill the wizzy and you kill the golems.

Thanks Dte and all. I did find the two wizards controling them and killed them both, once I started running and got my henchy to follow me instead of trying to fight them. She is a pain sometimes, but has some good spells on hand. See you at the end of the OC and then on to the expansions. Just got HotU today in the mail. So I have the set now.

@Cm - enjoy them! I found SoU a little too easy, but fun. HotU on the other hand (while also easy as a Paladin) was a real blast. I *very* much enjoyed it!

I bailed on HotU in the middle of chapter 3 to play X^2 more. The story was winding down a bit and combat held little challenge for my monk. I enjoyed SoU the most of the 3, although the henchies were lousy.

I don't know how your henchy could be any worse than the one I stuck to for most of the OC. I think she has cost me about a million so far just returning per the portal every time she gets kicked. But for some reason I like her, and she does do some good spells for as long as she lasts.
