Fallout vs Fallout 2

Fallout vs Fallout 2 - which is your favourite and why?

Many "hardcore" fans decry Fallout 2 and for good reason: there are some inconsistencies in the Fallout world, it was buggy, (arguably) the design isn't as tight and the Master was a better baddy/ending for my money.

On the other hand, Fallout 2 was longer (not always a good thing but it was for me in this case), NPC control was improved, NPCs like Marcus were fun and although it might have been inconsistent I liked areas like New Reno.

Final votes to Fallout for me...but Fallout 2 was still pretty good.

Your thoughts?

Fallout is one of few rpg that i realy like and it deserve to have forum on RPGdot.I played it too many times and if i have to choose F1 was great but just short for me,F2 would be the game use of car, more playing hours, more controlable NPC's,more location's in one word more everything,as tradition continues there is more loading time as for Fallout Tactics it doesnt even deserve to be mentioned

fallout was a work of art.

Definitely sold a lot of computers. When you think of how old it is now, it was amazingly advanced. Really well written.

Fallout 2 does have more content. Its also good but its not as good.

I have never seen a difference between the two games... but I like the endings of FO2 better and the fact that it's longer so I'd have to give a slight edge to FO2... but only a slight one.

I liked the original Fallout very much, but as good as all things I thought was irritating in FO1 was fixed in FO2, and additionally, I enjoyed the humour in FO2 better. Therefore my vote is for FO2.

Reminiscing the first impressions: I have to go with Fallout 2, mainly because the main quest in FO 1 was time related and when I was playing the first time I was afraid that I would run out of time. My stale of play is: look in every corner of every building, talk to every NPC’s and check his/hers pockets plus car was cool addition.

I agree with Seth. Much as I enjoyed F1, I didn't like the time limit on the first quest. I also think there was more scope to be a 'bad ass' in F2. Now we have to wait and see what happens with F3!!

I'm a little surprised at the support for Fallout 2 (not that I necessarily disagree). I only ever played FO with the patch which extends the time limit long enough.

No-one's thinking FO2 had too many pop-culture references and too many bigger, unfocused battles?

I like F2 better than F1. because it´s more npc´s more weapons more missions and it takes almost weeks to complet it (if you don´t sit and play all day ofcourse). F1 takes only about 9-10 h to complet.

I love F2 but F1 is still an super great game!

I liked the pop culture references. They didn't detract from the setting for me at all. They were just funny as hell.

I'd have to go with F1 (patched). I just liked the storyline better and for me Enclave was a bit of a disappointment.
