What is the landmass of Morrowind/Oblivion?

What is the landmass of Morrowind and Oblivion?

Feel free to correct me. I'd like to know the true scale of these games.

Here is a map of Morrowind that Bethsoft did for the 10th Anniversery of Elderscrolls.

Each tile = .82km

1 kilometer = 0.621371192 mile

19 x 17 = Landmass of Vvardenfell(landmass that you play in Morrowind)

15.58(19 x .82) x 13.94(17 x .82) = 217.1852 km x .621371192 = 134.95 square miles

Cyrodil is something like 30% larger then Morrowind.

As you can see, Oblivion is much larger than 16 square miles.
*16 is the reported size of the game.

16 square miles is literally how big the game is in real-world terms, not game-scale terms. We all know there is not a 1:1 ratio in RPG worlds. 24 hour day/night cycles do not take 24 hours. It does not take us a week of realtime to make journey to a city. We can usually acomplish this in 30 minutes to an hour of realtime. All I am trying to say is Oblivion is much larger than 16 square miles. I am guessing it covers hundreds of miles.

This map shows how much larger Cyrodil(Oblivion) is compared to Vvardenfell(Morrowind)...

It's most definately 16, not 40 square miles.

For the umpteenth time, Morrowind was approx 10 square miles.

And the devlopment process to produce a system that would automatically generate the things you're mentioning took far more time and research to do than you think. If it didn't, the place would look terrible and you guys wouldn't appreciate that. So, yes, it is bigger, but no, it wasn't easier.

Again, I believe they are talking about real-world square footage. No way is the Empire only 16 miles square.

Whatever the actual game scale is...

Oblivion is 63% larger than Morrowind!

good post. I found the map very interesting.

Just a note though, you said you could compare on the map how much larger cyrodiil was, than vvardenfell... I'm not sure what you meant, but as far as I could see, you thought they were both on the picture... This is not a map of cyrodiil, though, it's a map of morrowind. Morrowind is the province, vvardenfell is just an island in that province. Cyrodiil is partly on the map, it's the white part to the far left.

I actually have 2 maps posted above. If you cannot see this one, here is the link...

It's only blocking you because of the RPGDot referrer - either copy and paste the link into a new window/tab, or hit reload on the error message.
