I told you to scream, Kendrik, not cry. You're a real man , aren't ya? (just kidding, I had to use one of the new smilies for a change).

I'm not lost to you. I just don't care about games like... uh... Dungeonmaster and Wizardry which for me are the epitome of what I don't want to play (I did... and I didn't enjoy either, but I once lived by this codex of finishing a game I started). But different folks, different tastes (luckily).
Btw, was there one memorable character in one of the above-mentioned games and their successors? Can't remember a single name! The most memorable of them all was - for me - the protagonist of Nemesis (the Wizardry adventure...). I forgot his name if he had one, but I at least know exactly what he looked like .

Gish mentioned Tyrael...yes, I liked him too. As he said, nice wings. But to even the odds I should mention Tal Rasha... impressive bandages...

@ Jaz - to be fair I only liked Dungeon Master and the Wizardry series because they remind me of the good ol' days (when it was all fields around here )

LoL2 wasn't really a bad game I was just disapointed in it - maybe I should try to replay it again and see if it has improved with my age. I agree that there are no (or few) memorable characters from the games you metioned but I think these were the birth of the computer RPG's. The most memorable chars are from the later games that combined good gameplay with a great story (the best example has to be Planescape: Torment).

But as you said different folks etc... but even with our wide range of taste's it's comforting to know that nobody liked Pools of Radience 2 (see there is still hope for us all )

Come to think of it, the AI construct in Deus Ex was kindda cool too.

Hmm... now that I think about it... anybody seen Ghost in the Shell? I wonder if that was a coincidence or...

I liked The Nameless one because they used Michael T Weiss's voice. Same with Thief2. I also liked Imoen because she was a cute kid. And then I liked Xardas because he wasn't lured into the petty power struggles that the fire mages had and also he was a good char with shades of dark in him.

My favorite RPG character would probably have to be Jan, from Baldur's Gate II. I probably forgot more nonsense about turnips than most people will ever know

Hmmm.. Very close for me between Annah and Nordern from PT. Annah was just so cool and yet at times funny and touching. Nordern was just a scream. I couldn't stop laughing with some of his dialogue, especially with Annah. I'll have to replay that game for a third time soon, great as Morrowind and NWN are, NOTHING touches PT for me.

Of course the coolest character is Virgil from Arcanum! He is a trusted follower, a great guide, and he have a good personality, i liked the way you got to know more about his past life...

Annah from PT was also nice, but she never really liked me.

Could not have said it better myself.

P.S. He was a trendsetter fashionwise! He was not afraid to wear something even though it was not "in!"

My favourite rpg character must be Max from Wasteland. I remember having so much fun climbing ropes, digging through walls, blasting open doors and fighting nasty metal monsters in the Las Vegas sewers trying to reassemble him (he was a robot) and then the surprise when you met up with him later in the game and he turned out to be one hell of a fighter.
