Ok here is a/my problem, well one of them
I have tried to install the 1.4 English update, since it is more than a 100meg to get it a try.
It will not install, says my version is 1.1 and here is the problem afaik.
Version 1.3 is not a real install version (download at least 3 differnt sites they are all the same) it only extracts files which you choose to overwirte.
Problem with this is it does not update your registry, so version 1.4 CHECKS the version before installing.
I tried to make a 1.3 registry entry, since I dont know the proper string of the 1.3 it did not work.
Anyone have a solution or can tell me/us the proper 1.3 registry string, so we can install this?
I found my registry entry under Local_Machine\Software\DreamCatcher\Dungeon Lords
The 1.1 entry is 1.10.0000
I tried to register on DreamCatcher to ask but I guess the Activation Email system is overun, nothing yet?
I can get the German 1.3 to 1.4 patch to work fine and it definatly says v1.3 in the game.
Also tried fresh install, trying to patch 1.4 at each stage. |

Turns out they released 2 versions of the 1.3 patch and only one actually installs the registry, brillant idea. |

It's pretty bad when you need a patch for the patch! |

'Collector's Edition'?!?!?
Fool me once, shame on you.
Fool me twice, shame on me.
I think I'll just wait for Oblivion and Gothic 3. |

I bought the game at it's release and still cannot nor even want to play it. Losing that money taught me finally to not buy initial game offerings. Nothing new I guess but that was embarassing for both me and the publisher. I see no humor in this debacle. What cujones to release a "Collector's Edition" when the regular edition won't accept patches or work at all to be playable. At least mine won't, but academic, now it's a dog toy or maybe a Christmas ornament to hang along with Windows ME. An apology and refund should be forthcoming? I hope your luck was better. |

Just a quick question: applying the 1.4 patch will give you the same game as the collector's edition or what? Either way I can't see the collectors edition selling a single copy with all the bashing the original has taken. _________________ "You'll never see me coming..."

Nope.
Collector's edition got new stuff that they made and is not included with the patch.
Someone has to pay for them to reach beta stage you know. |
