Wouldn't it be cool if RPG's offer the opportunity to create your own character in an RPG?
You think I am silly? -) I don't mean character generation like it is done at the begginning of a game, but like this:
When you buy the game, you will be linked to a web page that's like a psychological test or questionnaire. You answer about 20-40 questions about yourself (psychological ones), and the site then offers you to download the avatar that was generated according to your answers. It would even be some sort of copy protection if you'll have to pay for this avatar - the game would be cheaper then, and only one predefined avatar could be used to play it out of the box.
What do you think about this (very raw) idea?

I guess I am a bit unsure on some of your points. Why would you have them create the Avatar online, instead of putting it on the CD like all other character generators? How does this lessen the price of the game? I can see how getting some sort of online "Key" to unlock a game could be used as copy protection, but those can always be cracked <: Besides, who wants to find out their stats are weak, dumb and slow? <:
