I've been playing CRPGs since the 80s and BG2 is the ultimate, IMO obviously.
I found it immersive and very atmospheric. I don't think I found any issues levelling up, maybe you need to go for more sub quests?.
Also, I didn't experience any bugs at all.
Stick with it, I'm sure you'll find it worthwhile!.

I already said somewhere that I liked better BG1, even that had worst graphics but RPG aren’t about that or are they?

@ Desdicado, did you try Fallout series, number one game in my book, no contest.
