No, actually they both have the same range and swing the same speed.

I liked the merc armor, personally.

My personal favourite is Robe of the Dark Arts.
Too bad you don't get to wear it for too long because after a short time you get ore armor which has better stats but I still keep my cool robe on.

Btw the defense values for weapon protection don't seem to work correctly.
For example I have 120 weapon protection yet skeleteons with rusty two-handers damage me quite well while my 60 fire protection completely protects me from seeker's fireballs in Gothic2...
( Bug or what? )

I like the High Robe of Fire better than the Robe of the Dark Arts, but that's just me.

I think that many years ago, when trees where green&big, I opened the same forum. But my favorites are:
Heavy Shadow's armor
Heavy Temple’s armor
Heavy Guard's armor
Heavy Ore Baron's armor
And from Gothic2:
Heavy Paladin's armor
Heavy Militia's armor

Yeh! In dead I'm master of collecting armor in RPG! I always have all possible armors with me!
And my favorite swords are Uriziell and Gomez’s sward (“Anger of Inos” or some thing like that).

Innos' Rage

The armor I like the best in Gothic is the Heavy Shadows Armor.

best armor(s): Gomez' armor, heavy guards armor.
best sword(s): Innos' rage

when you wear the Innos' rage and walk to Gomez... he goes mad and attacks you (he sais that you wear his sword, and he has to teach you a lesson ... goodbye Gomez!)

I agree with MageofFire, the High Robe of Fire is the best looking. As for weapons, Raven's Right.

Gentle Travelers, I am quite sure that the articles of protection mentioned in the above threads are somewhat adequate for the novice explorer; no shroud comes close to the personal protection offered by the infamous Nellik's Shield. I know I have seen mention of this in previous posts; and yes I do know that Nellik's Shield is quite hard, if not impossible to find. But; once found, when worn, provides protection against and from any and all monsters found in the game. Plus, I do enjoy the way the light reflects off of it. The armament does make one look quite stunning.
