How do I turn on antialiasing in the game?
Create a new shortcut for the game and add in the command line, after the exe name, something like this
height=1200 width=1600
It will give you a message "unsupported format", but if your video support it, voila Dungeon Siege at 1600x1200 |

I can tell you with experience that Dungeon Seige does not use:
DX8.1
Bumpmapping
Pixel Shaders
Vertex Shaders
nor any other DX8.1 feature (probably certain aspects of DX8.0a but not much).
Dungeon Seige is 95% DX7 and 5% DX8.0a and what DX8 features are there, are prelimary to the fact that the graphics, even on a Geforce4 Ti are... to put it lightly, totally crap.
Dungeon Seige is a modest game. It's like a Dungeon Master on the Atari ST, only in a different perspective.

I have the same problem with washed out textures on my PC too. I think you will find its because of mipmapping. I usually disable mipmapping completely in any game that supports this option, it does reduce performance a bit but it sure does look nice.
If you cant disable it then you should go into your D3D settings and change the mipmapping level to "Best Quality".
Turning mipmapping off completely does make some games look kind of weird, because the textures in the distance are so crystal clear but everything else is not. Just give it a try and see what its like, it cant hurt. |

I must agree with Chekote. It is off topic. And I am starting to be sick from all people shouting all around "I love Morrowind", "I want Morrowind" etc. I will not delete it this time, but next time I surely will. |

Nah, I don't really think of it like that, I just look at it from one perspective.
If conversations remained civilized, then I've always believed they should be left alone. Off topic or not, this is a gaming forum and I'm all for discussing other stuff. I enjoy heated debates, and other "edgy" stuff, so ya won't see me messing with moderator powers at the drop of a hat.

Huzzah Llama!
BTW, I have read in a couple articles that the engine is DX 7.0, so other than speed, the video card wont make a diff beyond the Geforce 2 or equivalant.
BTW, who here is gona get the GF4 TI 4200? |

Yeah, the DS engine is purely DX 7.0, but they "require" DX 8.1 because it has a few 7.x fixes on it...
While the game is basically bug free, they do need to release an optimization patch because it's running hella slow on various configs that are above recommended specs. |

WEll, I've got a GF2 MX400 64MB, and I get around 10 FPS in-game with 8X4X32, Bilinear, low detail.
My CPU is a Duron 900, and from what I have seen in the charts at Anandtech, its got a LOT of life left in it (least 6 monts to a year), so obviously the vid-card is the problem, which I plan on upgrading ASAP! |
