That is "jumping" already in my book.

I do not have the right to criticize as I was not in your position. Nevertheless, it may be a better idea to lurk around the board for a month or so before even consider posting.

FYI: A few forums out there do not allow you to post at all within the first 40 days.

If a forum community treats anyone the way the planethalo forum community treated me then I dont realy need to waste my time on them.

Everyone should be free to post.

One of the things that irks me most about the attitude of people like the planethalo dwellers, is that they seem to think I have all the time in the world to sit there and read through the entire forum history.

The whole point in a forum is to either submit or retreive information quickly and easily. If I have to search through pages and pages of results which may or may not have any relevance to my question, I may as well go back to using the library!

People seem to forget this, and just become some big group of territorial bullies who have no idea why the forum is even there in the first place. They just think its someplace for them to force their will upon other people (most likely because they wish they could in real life, but are far too weak to do so).

I have no problem with anyone in this forum, everyone is friendly 99.9% of the time, but I beg you (kiwi boy), please dont insult my intelligence by trying to defend the ignorant and immature people at the planethalo forum.

Whoops, I guess this turned into a rant....

Sorry!!!!

After reading this disclaimer, I wonder who's insulting whose intelligence right now.

Hey hey, keep calm, people .

Welcome Wooper! Don't worry, you're not the first person who has been kicked from/left a forum. Back in 98 (or so), the admin of a LAN Party forum banned all his moderators in a nightly fit of paranoia, because we 'were after him'. Oh well. I re-registered under another name to copy the posts in question as evidence, should we ever need it, but, well, the forum didn't survive the next ten days...

The no. of posts isn´t that important on RPGDot. You get your own avatar and title (once!) at 500 spam-free posts. After this the post count is pretty useless.

I wish I knew about the 500-post marker earlier, Gorath, for at the rate I post, it may be a hundred years before I have my own avatar and title.

Welcome, Wooper. Opposite of having too many newbies, a board can suffer from a slow loss of veterans, something which I've seen happening at another board I frequent. Lots of Interplay and Black Isle friends lost to the great Void.

@Namirrha

I thought once that i'll never get to the "magic" post count of 500. Here's a piece of advice ... less you care about a postcount more posts you have.

And loss of veterans as you call it is normal to happen once a while on every board because people have lifes that aren't connected to boards ... (Or so I heard .. )

EDIT :

Spelling mistakes.

What do you mean?

I did not intend that as an insult of any kind. I'm sorry if you took it that way. I am simply saying its pointless to defend them.

Just read the thread that you posted a link to and you will see that they are obviously just a bunch of silly children (Either physicaly or mentaly).

I remember the time that I had problems reaching the 30 post count limit of the shadows. I only visited the Gothic 2 forum here at that time. Today it's quite easy to get a high post account. I've met a few others who can get me into a discussion.(5 posts at least) I don't know wheater you joined a usergroup, but it really helps to improve your postaccount. (have to be active off course)

That was my line.

@Chekote: Hope no misunderstanding is caused: I wasn't defending anyone. What I was saying is read some random posts first, then you can estimate the average age of the members and determine whether it's worth the effort to express your comment there.

Simply speaking, don't waste your breath to the trolls.

Cool, welcome again, Wooper.

Kiwi, thanx for clearing thet out

@Namirrha:
This is actually what happened to PBS, most of the old members left and so the newbies were in overflow... and noone to counter them... to keep the board clean or something.

I actually dont know whats good in dedicating your time to a forum... thatll soon go dead.

*knocks on wood*
