best course of action for a water mage?
   

should i giv obviously most of my points for magic but a little for strength for meelee fighting, or for dexterity, or should i jsut spend all lp on magic?

You'll probably want it all on magic. I believe the bonuses from findable potions/praying/stone tablets will be more than enough for the other skills. You need every LP you can get, anyway (for mana).

In TNotR you should ignore Str and train Dex up to 60. Use epees.

You can't become a Water Mage, though. You can (or rather, must) join the Circle of Water as a secondary 'guild', but that 's it. You might become a Fire Mage and create Water Mage runesin the addon world, but that's the closest you'll get.
