Horizons Beta???

Ok...I know its still NDA, but I was just curious as well as wanted to share...another board (gasp) that I am on a lot has had about 5 people get into beta over the past 3 days after writing a letter in addition to their beta application on the atari site. Now thats pretty impressive and I was just curious if others here have noticed a lot of people getting in to beta all of a sudden. That, and the last I read, there were already 10,000 beta players, so with these new additions the beta is HUGE. Is anyone in here in beta...or going to try now that they seem to be letting a lot in?

If it's any comfort, I'll be previewing the Horizons beta this weekend and will write a report on it for MMORPGdot which should be published next week. So keep an eye out for it!

Depends what you mean by "official"... If you mean it in the sense where my hand is being held by a dev while he leads me through a sight-seeing tour, showing me what the features are and such, then no. I'll simply be playing the game and looking at it through a gamer's eyes.

I was in the beta too but im not very impressed so i quit playing it. I guess thats all i can say due to the NDA. I really hate NDAs, what a pain in the arse.

Just so other readers know, if you are the kind that likes instant gratification, dont like role-playing, are a power-leveler type, or dont understand the process involved in betas, then obviously you woouldnt like Horizons. Horizons is for true fans of fantasy and role-playing, not for power-leveling, solo-hunting bullies.

Too bad we can't really argue about this yet... But all I can say is that I couldn't agree less with your statement from what I've seen so far...

I'd second Ekim if I thought it was appropriate under the NDA.

I third Ekim's sentiment.

Would be great if this game rocks, but I sense some disapointment here

Haha, Ligi is already disappointed.

Those blight malestorms could be interesting; if they work. Other than that I'll have to see this game in action too. They sure have talked up their crafting system though. I hope it's good so I can play it...I'm so bored lately I've had to resort to picking my nose...and I've been doing it so often, it's starting to bleed now.

I wouldn't say disapointment, I just don't agree with what was said about this being a "true role-player's game" sort of game...

My preview of the game has been submitted for approval by Artifact (has to be approved because of the NDA, unfortunately...), and we hope to have it published this week. Maybe it will answer a few questions.

Great thanks. I wonder when it will be lifted...because I know that there are a lot of opinions out there one way or another. Although I don't know how much credit they fully can be given since the developer has said that the beta testers have barely even seen the content of the game....

Grr, is everyone but me in the beta? As far as good for RPing or not I think that much of that will be determined by what the players put into the game, thus there will be some shards that are great for RPing and some that won’t be. But then this is all speculation since I have no beta CD! Grr...
