Well, if I don't kill them, they won't respawn later... will they? Less XP

Not true. It's not a respawn of killed monsters, it's actually adding new ones. If you don't kill off the Orcs in Ch 2, there will just be even more for you play with in Ch 4!

There are two main styles of play here: those that do as much as possible in each chapter before moving on to the next, and those that progress through the earlier chapters quickly. It all depends on where the "sweet spot" of the game is for you. Personally I enjoy the earlier chapters more (more of a challenge), but others really like the middle or even end chapters when you have more options open to you and the game story has unfolded more.
