Best of the Best action titles 2003

In next six months, we will have several heavy weight FPS titles. Lets say upon entering a game shop, you only have enough money to buy one of the many titles (pick one in the poll above), which one will be your choice?

My top three is HL 2, Halo, and Deus Ex 2. I gotta pick HL 2 for its superior AI, character & facial animation, plus a strong story telling element. Doom 3 no doubt have excellent graphics and atmosphere but i doubt it can compete with the strong points of HL 2. Deus Ex 2 has replaybility and open ended gameplay, plus strong story/plot too.

Some not so heavy weight but promising shooters:

Will Rock (Spring, 2003) - kinda like Serious Sam: Quote "...the Acid Gun, which burns monsters alive from the inside, causing them to burst like balloons. There’s the Medusa Gun, which turns creatures to stone and the Atomic Gun, that melts everything in a holocaust of destruction." I like the sound of that. http://www.will-rock.com/

BloodRayne PC (10 June) - Voluptuous, nice looking, finger flipping, foul mouthed half vampire heroine who like violence, decapitation, blood sucking, and kung-fu kicking. Apparently all these angered a reviewer at http://www.justadventure.com/reviews/BloodRayne/BloodRayne.shtm

Painkiller (Sept. 2003) - Mow down truckload of undead and demon, battling a four stories high gargantuan who can shook a building... http://www.avault.com/previews/preview_temp.asp?game=painkill

I've got the hopes up for Doom 3, Deus Ex 2 and HL 2. Doom 3 and HL 2 should be really good, and get some good mod-builds (Counter-Strike for HL 2). Deus Ex 2 will probably be very good, at least its predecessor was.
Halo looks pretty sweet, but I don't know.

I seriously doubt DNF will come this year.

I haven't heard much about this S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

I never liked 'Serious Sam', but I will probably at least try 'Will Rock'.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R is quite wellknown among visitors at couple gaming news portals and forums, although the game is from a small developer. Its game engine capabilities and graphics also not far from Doom 3. Almost stand toe-to-toe - if you have the top hardwares to handle it. http://www.stalker-game.com/index_eng.html

I like the graphics in HL 2, Deus Ex 2, and S.T.A.L.K.E.R better than Doom 3, which the in-game characters somehow always show shiny & reflective (plastic like) skins. Its look faked. The effects and atmosphere are excellent though.

I watched 18 minutes from the Half Life 2 E3 presentation. It looks fantastic, so this is my new no.1. A few days earlier my favourite was a game you left out: Far Cry. Everything I´ve seen and read so far indicates this is A list material.

I voted DX2 but I really can't separate it from HL2. I've always admired id's engines but never finished one of their games, so Doom3 isn't a big one for me. DNF - .

I haven't played one of them yet - with the exception of the Doom 3 demo - so I'll wait with voting until they are out. I guess HL 2, Thief 3 and DX 2 will make the list for me.

Half-Life 2, no doubt. But S.T.A.L.K.E.R. will probably be great too, and Thief 3.

Thats odd, because over the weekend, I loaded Half-life Opposing Force to play when Morrowind gets a little boring. I had forgotten how intense that game was. My wife has to tell me to breathe, cause I guess I hold my breath when I am going into dark and creepy places, knowing that there will be enemies there to get me. I liked Deus Ex also; but after playing Opposing force, my vote would go to Half-Life 2

Max Payne 2 would be an interesting thing to see, though HL2 gets my vote...

Nobody has mentioned this game:

http://www.s2games.com/home.html

It looks really intereting, at least for me.

Oh yes, XIII, excellent choice! That game looked like it might be fun... if it comes out.
