Definitely running with a theme is cool. Sounds fun. I would be even prouder if they could beat the game (without the lie, lie, lie, greater temple quest, lie, game done cop out ).

Hehe, I intend to make Zuggtmoy their new stage prop.

With high Dexterity on all of them, they get the first move every round, and with my wizard now able to craft fireball scrolls....

*Fireball!*
Bad dudes: Ouch!
Peter: Woohoo!

*Fireball!*
Bad dudes: Gah!
Weaker bad dudes: Avenge me! *dies*
Paul: I want to rock an roll all niiight!! And party everry daaay!!

*Fireball!*
Bad dude: Right! I'll do you for that!
Gene: What are you going to do? Bleed on me?! *sticks out tongue*

*Fireball!*
Bad dude: Oh sh-!
Ace: Burning up!

*Fireball!*
The Manager: I should have never agreed to mopping up your messes in my contract.

I love these guys!
It's even better when playing a KISS album in the background.

Craft wands of fireball when possible... they're only DC 20 to use with use magic device, unlike the scrolls which can be a little tricky at times. Plus if nothing else it's 20 uses before having to head back to town to scribe scrolls.

Though with the 20 instead of 50 thing on wands in... I'm not sure it's economic xp an gp wise to make a wand instead of 20 scrolls. It's supposed to be (and is with 50 charge wands in D&D).

Bah, they cast from the scrolls fine. They have good concentration scores for when they cast their normal spells in battle.

That doesn't invalidate my point about running out of scrolls and having to make a run to town at inopportune times.

Unless you make 20 scrolls for each of them (or more) in one batch, which makes it the same as a wand.

I've been hearing that a bit... it took me to pretty much right before the end battle to get all my characters to level 10. And I fought pretty much everything. I didn't have the 'might as well make items' thing setting in...

All of my guys hit level 10 before they ever got close to the 4th level of the dungeon. Of course, I spent some time "leveling up" in the outside world.

All my guys hit level 10 about 1/2 way into level 4.
So now, They've all got gauntlets of strength + 5 (or
whatever is top) and many fireball wands. Constitution
amulets next for everyone. And I'm currently slaughtering
everything in the nodes. Life is good.

Warning to Temple dwellers - DO NOT CROSS ME!

I was through the nodes and the encounter with the greater temple was what pushed me to 10. Then I got the orb and beat the game.

I don't level up by resting outside repeatedly. There's enough set fights in the game to get level 10 without doing random encounters.

I didn't do any random outside encounters at all. I think I avoided every single one. But I didn't have any NPCs in my party at all and I didn't craft any items till I reached level 10 either, dunno if that sped me a long at all.

Also, on an unrelated note....
Are there any quests (apart from 1 or 2) in the Temple proper? My party is chaotic good and have no "quest related official" reason at all to be in the Temple at all except for fighting and looting. Is the game THAT old school in that you go on an adventure just to explore and kill evil as you want? Not that I'm complaining, I'm loving every minute.

Um, didn't you talk to Black Jack?

The people you are supposed to rescue are locked up in the Temple.

Oh yes, I did talk to to him, but they were rescued on level 1 I think.
Since then its been a glorious hack fest. Or have I missed something else?

Very likely knowing me.....
