Xardas was a firemagician when he and 12 others, the 13 most powerful magicians in the realm of myrtana, created the barrier. But Xardas has always gotten an interest in the dark magic, the necromancer magic. That's why he summoned the skeletons in the monasterys cellar. To protect ancient books. When the barrier enclosed him in the colony and when the firemagicians kicked him out of the circle of fire because of the summonings of undead beings, he went off alone and he was then known as the necromancer to the people in the colony. Saturas explains this.
He then began to search for the reason of the expansion of the barrier. And the longer he studied the black arts, the more he wanted to become the chosen of beliar so he could be granted powers of unlimited capacity to summon more undead beings and to control the undead. |

After finishing G2 I think xardas was plotting a lot already in G1. He probably knew already that if the Sleeper would die(banished), It would call the dragons, and he already knew the Undead dragon had enough power he could absorbe to become the chosen of beliar. IAnd I think this all will become clear in Gothic 3. Or I just have way too much of a fantasy
BTW I think Y'Berrion only became a "mage" after that he founded the brotherhood. _________________ Want to become a vampire? a warrior in the battle between vampires and werewolves?

I think Xardas tried to get the Sleeper's power, and didn't expect the "failure". _________________ http://kevan.org/brain.cgi?megadav!count |

No I don't think so. Cause he fainted at the temple, just like he probably expected, he even know he could save you thx too the armor. and He was such a great necromancer so I tink he knew there were more powerfull creatures then the sleeper. Creatures like the dragons, especially the Undead Dragon, 1st servant of beliar _________________ Want to become a vampire? a warrior in the battle between vampires and werewolves?

Well, my opinion is that the Dragon and the Sleeper have the same power. Xardas just aided us for we can kill the Sleeper, but he didn't know all the time what will happen. _________________ http://kevan.org/brain.cgi?megadav!count |

maybe but how did he knew the last words of the sleeper then? If it even took a few days before he could save you out of the rocks? _________________ Want to become a vampire? a warrior in the battle between vampires and werewolves?

He's a mage, he might have heared the words of the Sleeper in somekind of magic energie field. Eitherway he knows about it and warns our hero for it. |

Something just occured to me today while i was playing: saturas told me about the creation of the barrier. and the 13th magician who was in control over it all: XARDAS. the reason the barrier expanded was because xardas wanted too. It knew that the sleeper excisted and needed it's power but he needed to find a way to get to the sleeper for his powers. So he closed it in the barier together with the most vicious warriors: all the prisoners and a bit later the chosen one (the hero) comes in the picture.
Maybe it wasn't even the sleeper who took control over the barrier but it was xardas who made the barrier collapse when he felt the sleeper had vanished because the barrier was of no use any more. He had the time and studdied enough over Beliar. _________________ Want to become a vampire? a warrior in the battle between vampires and werewolves?

I think you're wrong.
He has always been interested in the dark arts, but he didn't turn to necromany till after the creation of the barrier. he turned to it to investigate why the creation of the barrier went wrong. |
