Gothic 2 = EASY?

You will all agree with me that Gothic 2 comparing to Gothic 1 is way better.
Some bugs fixed and all that. Gothic 2 suppose to be hard to complete.
BUT....
Do you guys and girls think that G2 is hard?
i wouldnt say so.... I dont know how to explain it... but i must say that if you choose a right tactic from the beginning you will not have any troubles completing the game. For the first time i played Gothic 2 its took me only 3.5 days to complete...
I would like to know your opinion about how hord the game is.... And if you had or have any problems, what is it?

First of all I have to disagree with you. I liked G1 more because it was all much more of a secret than G2. G2 was a bit to straight to the point.
Hard? mm not too hard and not too easy. the difficulty was good, just like in G1

You'll have to specialise more in Gothic II. Maybe some people were used to getting more diffent skill in gothic I. But I wouldn't call one of both more diffecult than the other.

G2 is easy, but thats not why you finished in 3.5 days. The only way to finish it that fast is if you rushed it. I have been playing for weeks and I just got to chapter 2.

I would suggest taking your time and realy exploring the world. Do the side quests and dont just rush through the main storyline.

Also, if you havent alreadu don so, order DNDR and download the english translation mod. It makes the game a lot better, almost to G1 standards.

For people who have played it a lot, it's easy of course. Try the add-on(with the english translation mod), it makes it A LOT harder to beat. And I mean A LOT. For instance, skillpointusage goes like this:
1-30, 1 skillpoint
31-60, 2 skillpoints
61-90, 3 skillpoints
91-120, 4 skillpoints
121->, 5 skillpoints

This goes for EVERYTHING, even 2H/1H weapon learning, strength, mana, dexterity and so on.. if you waste even a few skillpoints you're screwed.

Try it, I found it very satisfying. And the Dragons are now MUCH harder as well, I hade to use coward tactics even with a Dragon Hunter(I hardly managed to damage the Dragon, and he regenerated faster than I damaged him).

Well thats from one extreme to another. I'd like it in the middle. I think they could have toned down and upgraded a few enemies. Skeletons should not have been so powerful. Dragons should be like trolls or a bit harder. None of that crossbow or bow crap. Goblins were even too strong. Those things could tear apart a troll if so inclined. I mean come on! Look at those scrawny arms and they are using sticks! Stone golems should have been worth more XP for the trouble they gave me. Instead of zombies they should have had ghouls. Like draining life energy. Instead of shadow warrior skellies they could have had liches. Those would be neat. And non storyline intensive people should be able to be killed or at least beaten up. Like Bosper. Why is he invinsible? Also I noticed at one point Sekob became invinsible as a paladin. There are others but I can't remember their names.

Yada yada yada. And blah blah blah. If you are a newb G1 is tough, and G2 is tougher, and NOTR would be almost impossible. Now you think you can rule Gothic, play mage only.

This great game gives ANYONE the chance to win, then gives them unlimited replay value. YOU can change the difficulty by the path you take.

And if you played G2 in 3.5 days, then you should have'nt bought it. You should have downloaded the demo. You have not seen the game yet

G2 happened to be very easy for me. except for chapter 1, which was actually quite hard when you become a magician.
Spoiler:
first of all I did all the quests for all the guilds, and finally joined mages. from then on it was very easy. expecially the dragons. for the first four dragons I just summoned 30 goblins skeletons, and voila. the last 2 dragons were easy, but the undead was the most easiest monster from the whole game. 3 Destroy Undeads and he was gone...

Don´t forget we´re all hardcore gamers. The money is earned with casual gamers. Especially in the beginning G2 can be pretty frustrating for somebody who doesn´t play 5 RPGs a year.

Hehe Gorath, the only RPG I've ever played was and is Gothic 2.

Somethings about the addon, besides that's it's awesome. Indeed everything is a lot harder, but some things are also more balanced and much more fun. The beginning is easier, many npc's help you, more exp for quests etc. After about level 10 it gets tougher. You won't level so hard and you'll get less for the 10 skill points you earn.
Some enemies now have so much armor, that you won't even do damage etc. But at other locations you can get a lot of help too. Like in the canyon, you can take upto six pirates with you to fight the orcs. So in my opinion it's not only harder, but also more balanced and fun. Note, that this is only about the first two chapters, haven't faced any dragons yet.

One thing though. Everybody, including the manual, talks about the new prices to learn something:
1-30, 1 skillpoint
31-60, 2 skillpoints
61-90, 3 skillpoints
91-120, 4 skillpoints
121->, 5 skillpoints
But I'm now level 18 and have 70 strength and with my sword bonus exactly 60% one-handed, however to increase my strength and skill it only costs 2 learning points per skill/strength point. I never heard anybody about this, so is this some kind of nice bug, or is it just a error in the manual or something.

It was not hard to be a magician in Gothic 2...not even in Chapter One. I just trained my bow skill to 30 and got 30 or 40 dex. At the end of the game in Chapter Six I was left with 60 or so SP. Once you get summon skeleton the game isn't that hard. Or even summon goblin skeleton. Its easy. The only spell other than the summoning spells I found useful was the destroy undead and maybe fireball every now and then.

Figured out my own problem . Unlike in G2 the addon now "sees" when you have boosted your skills with amulets, rings and weapons and recognises your base, naked amount of skill and strength. So you don't have to take off your gear everytime you learn, because the game will notice that you have 10 strength less for example. It does costs 3 lp once you're above 60 however.

That's just stupid... why start a game (especially an RPG) to rush through it? I've played with Morrowind for a year. With Gothic 2 for at least 3-4 months. There wasn't an enemy or herb left anywhere. Enjoy it damn! It's a fantastic game.

Yea I have never understood people who just rush games through, like it was somekind of sport.I play games(especially rpg games) to have a good time. Hell i want to enter into the world, I want to feel like i'm there. If it took only 3 days, you must have played it non stop and ignore all the sidequests..
