Hello guys im new here and i need help !
Ok I bought gothic today (again, but thats another story... but I can tell ya in the past it worked) and I installed it as I came home... then I tried to start it but nothing happens... there was only a short time a loading icon (mouseicon) and then NOTHING :[ ! I looked around forums and faqs and asked friends but i didnt found any answers :[ ! Then I installed the patch 108h...
After that, the game starts but then a message makes me frustrated again:
"Please enter the original play disk !!"
OMFG !! Whats the problem here ??? What shall I do ? I reinstalled the game about 10 times and tried ALL the patches I found !!! but nothing worked.... :[

i know its really shitty but ill go to upgrade in winter ;O

First of all installing patch 1.08h over the English version 1.08j sounds like a stupid idea to me. Why would anybody go back to an older version in a different language?
Install 1.08k instead.
If the game doesnīt recognize your original CD you can try the following things. Each one can be the reason for the incompatibility.
-enter the task manager and close _all_ programs.
-update _ALL_ drivers. Especially mainboard, IDE driver and sound.
-Download a new virus scanner.
-Use AdAware and SpyBot to kill all spyware.
-disable (maybe even uninstall) your firewall, CloneCD, Nero InCD (?), Daemon tools, etc.
-disable MS Office indexing
-defrag your hard disk
-install the latest BIOS for mainboard and CD-ROM drive.
-disable your sound card to for testing purposes.

first of all, thx 4 help
I tried to patch down to 108h but THEN first the message with cd appears! but if I dont apply the 108h patch the game wont start becuz the patch is 4 grakas like gf3-5 oO !! i hate it :[
and btw when u say close all tasks to u mean all TASKS or all PROCESSES ? |

No! Patch 1.08k is for new graphics cards. 1.08h is an old German patch.

Both. If itīs not absolutely required you should close it. Close everything except the vital programs.
If your windows is older than a year you should even consider downloading the latest drivers and reinstalling the windows. This is the only way to 100% clean an old windows installation.
