Deadlands Re-Announced

Our historical data shows that we have last reported on Headfirst's PnP-based 'Deadlands' game on May 2, 2002. The game has now been re-announced (thanks Blues) but somehow the RPG elements have gone AWOL or so it seems because the game is described as a "3rd person action horror title" on the teaser page. If Headfirst decides to replace "title" with "RPG" we may consider covering it here. If not, you will have to use www.petitiononline.com and come up with at least a couple thousand signatures to enforce coverage .

* tips Nyarlathotep a virtual credit*

[thanks and sorry about missing your mail but we only discussed the Deadlands news today when OctarineDragon from UltimaDot brought it up .. Dhruin and I were obviously in silent agreement yesterday that "3rd person action horror title" = none of our business but Octarine convinced us to at least post that it's no longer an RPG then ]

Not as far as I am concerned. I'm wearing a full set of whine-resistant armor .

Woohoo

I'll try and pry some info out of Headfirst to see weather it's an RPG or not

(btw, CoC isn't an RPG either, but I've got the impression at least one of you is a fan )

Hehe, let us know what they say about the "RPG-ish-ness" of Deadlands . Not sure who the local CoC fan is around here (you, Dhruin?) but when CoC was announced, I'm pretty sure they mentioned RPG elements back then and that was the reason we added it. Could have also been that Rend as a Bethesda/Morrowind fan thought 'ah well let's just cover it' .. I don't remember (more likely that the first was the real reason though) .

By my knowledge, the game never had RPG elements. It only borrows from the p&p RPG in terms of setting and characters. There might be RPG elements, but they are all 'under the hood' (eg. Jack improves his aim troughout the game, but there are no visible stats for that). It actually leans more to an Adventure game actually.

Not to say you should stop covering CoC Your site is one of those I visit regularly troughout the day for news (now that I think of it, I really should give more credit this site when I post news... Sorry about that)
