Manufacturing

Is there anywhere I can get a list of manufacturing requirements?

For example, at the moment I want to know exactly how many Power Cells I can create for each Crystal I buy.

Later on I am sure I will need to know similar things for other products, so some kind of documentation would be nice

Thanks

I'm certain there are lists around... as for the crystal/cell thing... I can say quite authoritively that 2 crystals make 276 energy cells.

Thus it costs 3330 credits per batch of energy cells. Selling at 16 you get 4416. Selling at any less is... well... a loss. That's what the average selling price is all about.

20 to 22 isn't that hard for your trader to find, though, especially in a huge sector or two. That will earn 5520 to 6072 credits per batch.

As for me... I've got a few systems with full product loops in them. It's incredibly expensive to set up... but long term the profit may be worth it.

One sector started with 450,000 credits in factory balance and now has about 800,000 in balance. In the same length of time it took my most profitable factory to go from 200,000 balance to 425,000.

Most importantly, it lets me set sector jumps to 0... which is infinitely more defendable (though with the sheer number of traders running about potentially infinitely more catastrophic if attacked).

My business sense tells me that keeping all expendatures internal will increase profit... but at the same time something keeps nagging at me about how many energy cells get taken away to keep the chain running. Less product for sale equals less profit... shouldn't it?

Evidently not by much, since my factories now have more than enough cells to survive without taking cells per cycle so my trade ship can sneak off with a full load to sell...

AFAIK, there is no formal list of the "needs/produces" for the various factories. However, fear not, for your friendly neighborhood moderator has created a little Excel sheet to tell you just that. Drop me an email addy via PM, and I'll send it to you.

I haven't taken the time to complete the portion of the spreadsheet dealing with weapons, missles, and shields, but the first half with products is complete to the best of my knowledge. It ain't the prettiest since I made it for my own use, but you're welcome to it if you wish.

Giskards X2 Economy Guide has lots of details on the economy. Scroll down for a list of factory requirements (dte's Excel sheet might be easier to work with but this is a good start).

Burianek's X2 Station Modeler Spreadsheet is basically exactly what you want but the format is pretty crowded.

Actually, http://www.the-commander.com/ is a great site in general.

My little sheet is far simpler than those, but also contains a fair bit less info.

@Chekote- sorry for the delay, the email sat in my outbox between lunch and dinner. Some idiot forgot to hit "send/receive".

I've got my economy set to generate about 1 million per real hour. Looking for ways to expand it so I'm fiddling with support and weapon production facilities. A spreadsheet would be very handy so I don't have to hunt down a factory that already exists of that type to see what it needs...

Would that be a request, Master Xen? For you, I'll even work on the second page... (don't worry, Chekote, I'll send you an update)

Fret not, my simian friend, for you were first in line for my bounty, scant though it was... Not a single soul received higher priority than you.

It would be nice to have. Nicer if I had a printer, but I can hack my room-mates printer if I want it printed.

Making a million an hour unattended still seems so slow. The fun thing is perception... it took me a month to make enough for my Boron Ray... and now that it's taken me a week to make half the amount needed for another big ship (including dips to buy a few corvettes... ) it seems to be taking forever.

Several of my SPPs were running out of crystals, so I decided to take the plunge and set up my very own crystal fab. What a pain.

I wanted to set up a trade route between the fab and one of the SPPs it would service. One ship to delivery energy and bring back crystals. Simple, efficient, and saves an Express. Can't be done. So on to plan B. I'll buy the fab its own energy buyer, but tell it to get the cargo from my SPP as opposed to an AI one. Turns out you can do it, but not on a repeating basis. Yug.

I figure that the only good thing that will come of this is that Kingdom's End, Red Light, and Herron's Nebula will always have crystals now (HN wasn't usually a problem, but it's right next to Cloudbase NW).

The good thing that comes of it is that you keep 3000 credits per cycle 'internal' instead of watching it fade into the ether of NPC bank accounts.

It is a pain and it is expensive... but if you have a sweet spot (such as Lucky Planets or Trinity Sanctum) that occassionally is down because of a lack of crystals it can really pay off.

I've been meaning to update a few more of my stand alone SPPs to self sufficient loops but I keep getting distracted by Xenon sectors to clear and corvettes to buy and equip. The loops I have make an excellent profit ... it even fixed Seizewell up nicely.

Took my weekly tour through the Egosoft boards and found this. The important part is BurnIt's post. Looks like they're making an officially sanctioned mod to address our needs, kinda like they did with Trade Mk3.

Bah. Irrelevant to me. I force feed the computer my goods and never let them come to me. I have never, EVER had a surplus of crystals at one of my crystal fabs... my associated SPPs are always running at 8 and hit 0 for two minutes until they get another 8 on a regular basis (due to it taking 6 to 7 minutes to make four batches of energy cells and 8 minutes to make a batch of crystals).

If the computer ever 'outbids' me ... and it's not possible since my factories are set at minimum price and always have stock... then I am out no more than 12,000 credits... to make a profit of at least 20,000.
