Worth buying flightstick for this game?

Should I definetely get a flightstick for this game for maximum enjoyment or should I just use keyboard and mouse? I've been looking at the Saitek Cyborg Evo.

According to Admiral Xen, terror of the space lanes and pilot extrodinaire, no. If I recall correctly he preferred the use of keyboard and mouse.

I believe there is a thread about this, including some suggestions about tuning the sensitivity of your ships. It was too long ago, and I am too lazy to look it up, but I suggest you try the threads started around the summer of 2004.

Close. Keyboard only. I try to use the mouse as little as possible when I play games.

And no I had no problems with keyboard alone. I just had to make sure to never take a ship above 50% tuning or things became interesting... in a slightest touch turns you sideways and you slam into things kind of way.

I fought 75 ships at once in a Nova using only my strafe drive and the keyboard. Didn't even turn the engines on. It took an hour but I suffered no hull damage.

Still, your mileage may vary. I've heard good things about the cyborg series, though.

Seconding Xen's comment- the game seems to have been designed to play keyboard only. Mouse and joystick support seem to have been tacked on later. Not to say that they don't work, but keyboard worked best for me, too. In case it matters, my pilot skills at the other end of the spectrum from Xen, so it's not a case of keyboards only being appropriate for master pilots.
