No! Do you have a RAID array? This means 2 hard disks addressed as 1 through a RAID controller? Then disableing this driver will be fatal.
Don´t ask Windows for new drivers. Check the motherboard manufacturer´s homepage and the Via homepage.

Thanks for the tips and the Mem Test...i gave it a try, and in fact, yes, it came out with a lot of errors, what could it be?
I also checked the two memory blocks (i have two of 512MB each...VData) one by one, and it seems every of them has a lot of the same errors ("pair words # ecc...", or somthing like that, i don't remember exactly)...i went in the evening to spoke with my local store (the PC is still new, and so should be the Ram), they doubt, they told me that Ram "works or don't works...no third way"...we agreed to come back monday with the PC and check everything again all together. 
Well, let's see on monday then...but i doubt too that the first and the second memory block as well are working badly...i run Mem Test other times, and it doesen't give me the same coverage-error (i.e. sometimes at 25% coverage i score 120 errors, some other time at 70% coverage only 45 errors)...i don't undestand why.  
Well, at least i really HOPE it's a bad Ram problem, 'cause i this case they will simply change the Ram and everyhing will be all right. 
It would be a lot worse if it was a SP2 problem...because i have no chance to go back to SP1.

When i saw you struggling with G2 i decided to try and help, i have seen many references here on the forums with similar memory related problems.
My pal asked me to fix his pc with the same problem you have, i did the memtest, it showed a few errors (single byte leakages over into adjoining bytes) On all other applications, graphics programs, database, multithreading....there was no problem...only with G2.!!
I removed the suspect memory 2/512 sticks, and installed two matched pairs (manufacturer certified) 2/512 sticks and ran the mem test.... there was not one single bit or byte overlap/leakage, not one error. He ran The G2 game and to this day has not had one drop-out, system hang or freeze-up of any kind since.
I then gave the "defective" memory to another pal to use in a pc which is not used for games, he says it runs great with no problems, this is because there is no heavy 3D graphical loading (memory dependent) requirement, as in G2.
So if you are wise, you will see that there is a "third way" your memory is indeed faulty as per the test results, new memory should have no errors. The guy is trying to smoothe talk around the issue.
The supplier where i buy my memory from, always runs memtest and gives a print-out of the results, but i have to buy it first, then he changes any faulty sticks.

There is always a third way when we mention about memories and RAMs can be very annoying. I recommend you to change your RAMs with Kingston or other well known manufacturers. |

Hi friends, bad news.
My local store refuses to admit he sold me a bad RAM, and refuses to recognize the Memtest, he says, as above, that if it was a bad RAM or a RAM problem, every program should not work properly.
He says that they jus tested RAM (i don't know with wich program) and it was all right...so, i am well and truly f****d.
Now i really hope that it is not a bad ram problem, otherwise i can put my new G2 and NOTR on the shelves for a good year or two... 
He told me as well to send an e-mail to Jowood assistance, and so i did this morning...explaining fully the problem, so the can see if there are other options.
I can only wait and see.
In the meanwhile, i will update EVERY driver (including motherboard, an ASrock model) in the PC.

Sorry, but that's complete bullsh** what your store is telling you. It's not true that every program has to malfunction because of defective Ram.
When Memtest says that the ram is defective then they have to accept that.
Perhaps it's a timing problem. Perhaps you should downgrade the timing of your ram a little bit in the Bios - you never know. |
