Why won't Mortis train my str?

I'm in the Militia, and the only option I get with him is 'End'. As the other guy in the town only trains me to 30 str, I'm kinda stuck. Nobody else will train me in Str,as I ain't in their gang, and I'm feeling pretty weedy at this point. As far as I know, I ain't annoyed him, but he just ignores me. Anyone else I can go to?

A second question, is the benefits that daron gives supposed to be temporary or permanent? 100 gold seems a lot to pay for 5 temp life points that disappear after a few minutes.

First, Daron's blessings are permanent.

Not sure what's going on there with the strength training and I suppose you are not an apprentice to the blacksmith either, right? Hmmm. Well, if everything else fails you could resort to inserting the character helper (type cmarvinc, press F2, insert ch <enter>, F2) and train with him... Or maybe reload an old game?

Thanks for the response. No, i chose the alchemist. Darons life bonuses don't last in my case. Could be a bug. I'll try the char helper if I can't find anyone else.
