Horizons Impressions @ HomeLan

HomeLan Fed has posted some short Horizons impressions based on hands-on time under the guidance of Artifact's David Bowman during a beta phase. Here's a snip:
The first thing we did was to check out Bowman, who played as a dragon, one of the nine playable races you can use in Horizons. Bowman guided us through the game’s user interface, which consists of a Windows like interface that is very customizable and movable in your player HUD. Bowman showed us how we could create a sword in the game via a formula already put into our inventory. We then walked over to a village blacksmith where we saw that we didn’t have enough bronze to make the sword. Resources are a big point in Horizons and can be gathered and stored by characters for use in creating weapons, items and even houses in the game. Bowman gave use some bronze resources which we then used to make a sword with a click of the mouse button. There is also an option to risk using part of the recommended resource to make your item which might actually make what you want or fail.

I wonder if this one will be as bug filled as demise was.
that game was so bad, it shiped with a bad install, none could even install the game untill you downloaded the overnight patch they put out afterwards.
in the end, they just dumped the bug filled game, and david went off to make horizons.
they just left the game to die.
it never was fixed beyond it's beta code.

makes me just want to rush out and buy hroizions sight unseen I tell you. heh

I dont know anything about demise, but from everything i have seen with Horizons, Bowman is doing everything right for horizons.. he is making tons of media appearences, working crazy house (from what i have read in Q&As) and has stated repeatedly that they will release the game late rather than put out a buggy game.. i guess we will find out soon enough

I'm definitely on board with the concept of delaying if necessary to get as many of the bugs out as possible. It is pretty cool how much i've actually seen David Bowman talk about stuff on the boards and in chats, especially since the game is in full on beta now and i'm sure he's got his hands full with that.
