Riddle me this everyone

Everytime I learn something new, or someone tells me a name, or I ... er.... stub my toe or something, there is much scribbling in a journal of some description.

Well if I press "N" or "L" I get a list of missions that I'm on etc. But I don't seem to be able to find this Journal. Not in the manual and not in the key config list in options.

All the scribling surely is not just about the mission list? Because there is stuff missing. For example... I am supposed to recruit someone from the "Old Camp" to join the "Sect" So I can prove my worthyness to join them. (But I don't really want too.. it's all a ruse Bwa Ha Haaaaaa) So after much plodding up and down (not the most inspiring mission this one) I found "Rusty" (or is it "Dusty" or "Busty" or something) who is not a happy bunny and seems ripe for defection. But he won't leave unless he gets a message from his friend who already joined the "Sect". Scribble, Scribble. Now I am sure that Rusty said this chaps name... but it does not list as an official mission in "N" or "L" So where did that note go?

Sorry to be thick.. but can anyone enlighten the Badger?

Thanks

Badger.

you have to find a digger called melvin in the sect camp whos sitting in a group with a bunch of other novices listening to a guy.

The defectors name is dusty. Make sure you have a 100 ore on you to get dusty out of the old camp (you have to bribe the gaurds to let him out.)

Once you hit L it shows a list of missions, so far so good. Now highlight the mission by clicking it, and it opens your journal. Now you can navigate to the entry with the arrow key, right arrow, and read in your journal. Hope that helps. (Happy bunny) Nice expression.

You can scroll through the missions up and down arrow and hit enter. I'm know this is a little hazy, but you can do it. Read in your journal that is.

You can see the superfluous journal entries by pressing -n- to bring up the quest log and arrowing down to the "General Information" section at the bottom. You can find the location of various characters you've met, merchants and skills you have picked up by reading through the entries.
