World of WarCraft Alpha Leaked

In a frustrating note to start the new year, worldofwar.net has information about the <a href=http://www.worldofwar.net/#newsitem1073271955,13819>leaking</a> of the WoW alpha to the cracker community. This is a pretty frustrating newsbit to post, and here's hoping Blizzard can get this taken care of ASAP.

Developers need to wake up and protect their project's source code.

The source code wasn't leaked, all that's out there is only a compiled alpha version. You know, executables and such. All you can PROBABLY do is run around in a little piece of land, looking at the graphics.

I don't think they'll pull any HL2 or anything.

Nothing new here. Everybody knows how much game developers like to have their early versions & source codes leaked.

Don't get why some people think this is such a big deal. Cool, you can pull a few models and graphics out and post them over the net. That's about it.

I sure am glad that it is not the code, as in this way we would be seeing the game in 2010.

Yeah, it may not have been the source code, but it could still wind up causing delays in the release or future hacker and duper exploits?

Later,

Yippeeeeeeeee, cant wait to login to my underground and find it

ok i found the file. Some are around 2g, some are 1.5g in size.
I have not downloaded the file, (I will ofcourse. dont hurt me )
But some say it is only the character creation screen.
I am only downloading it for more info and a little demo. if this was the whole game. or even beta i wouldnt download it. alpha is totaly different guys. Some idiots are even trying to set up a server.

No, it isn't different. It's stolen property and it is still illegal.
