Freaky !!

Ok, I just started playing the game, but I have to say that, with headphones on and the lights off except for a candle burning, The Oceanview Hotel (?) has got to be one of the most scary places Ive ever visited in a PC game. I was jumping out of my seat in some spots. Awesome.

That, and the gaming cafe's backroom are some of the best (and fucking scariest!) levels I've seen in any game, not just an RPG. Too bad about the Warrens, though.

I agree! I thought the Ocean House was brilliant, soundwise, the timing of the spectres, the lighting, everything was excellent. Borrowing elements and just the "feel" of such films as The Shining, Amityville Horror, and Poltergeist, I was in horror junkie heaven. And yes, it did give me a couple good little spooks here and there. Having gotten into some rather time-consuming technical training and projects lately, I havent been able to game until later at night. So, I wound up doing that scenario for the first time in the dark @ like 1 am. You know its kinda creeping you out when you find yourself peeking around corners in the game

I replayed it thru a second time and took like 350 mb of TGA screenshots, I'll be doing a few moving gifs based on the scenario as soon as I get done with another brutal project Im trying to complete for work in Visual Basic. Here's a pic I did a few nights ago from 2 of the newspapers-

Was kinda bummed that I couldnt really get any quality pics of Tiffany's ghost, the best being the brief run by she does down in the basement, but I think that one's gonna be pretty good nonetheless. Got some good shots of Ed tho (the psychotic father), and got all the newspapers. Trying to figure out a good way to throw all the newspaper headings together to tell the story, maybe interspersed with lightning flashes of the father holding his axe or something. I dunno, havent given it much thought yet

Probably would make a good Flash presentation as well, get that freakin creepy audio going!

I just did the oceanview hotel last night and it certainly had its moments. I'm thinking I screwed something up in there (ended up taking like 95% of my health on one particular late instance hallway ... with fortitude up. Probably would have vaporized my Malk or Nossi) but oh well.

It's no System Shock (1 or 2) but it was pretty damned jumpy from time to time. I loved it.

On to a warehouse...

It was definately one of the best levels in the game. Who says you need combat to be absorbed in a game?
