I'm just curious. If you liked Icewind Dale then you probably will like Icewind Dale II. It adds the same classes as are in BG2, but throws in several new kits and some 3E rules.
Of course I will play it

maybe, i really enjoyed Icewind Dale 1 and Baldurs Gate 2, but i never liked the infinity engine very much. so Icewind Dale 2 is on my list, but not on the top.

I'll get it if the reviewers I trust (i.e. other gamers who actually play the game) think it's worth the money.

I didn't like Icewind dale's rather story light environment. After playing Torment and BG2 I got used to having good NPCs.. NPCs with something to say.

Icewind reminds me of sitting down to a pen and paper session and making six characters yourself and then running through a module with them. Whee. Big fun. You're 'alone' in all these games, sure... that's part of CRPG... but a good CRPG can make you feel that your character isn't some nameless, faceless things (or rather a name and a face with no meaning to the game in IWD. )

True the story of Icewind Dale was not as compelling as that of PST or BGII. But compared to Diablo it had a far better story. Icewind Dale is more of a dungeon crawler and thus focusses more on fighting.
One of the advantages compared to BGII is that you can now try out 6 classes/kits instead of just one, to try out what you liek best.

Yes, I prefer creating all 6 characters.
I also prefer more action style of this game.
Story is very good. They tell it with great voice and nice pictures. Maybe it is not so complicated and complex as in BG2, but it can be for someone adventage and not disadventage.

Yep, finished IWD1 way back with a contented mind, so I will probably go for IWD2 too.

Infinity engine is great and it's too bad it won't be used anymore.
About IWD, I liked it and I will sertanly play the sequal. Although IWD1 didn't have complex story like BG and such, it had much better story than most of the other FRPs.

By the way, game CDs in Yugoslavia are 2$!
Cheers! )

I'll play IWD2 if I see good reviews or I can download a demo before buying, I went through IWD1 without the extension, but I found it slightly lacking. It was more of a feel-good-distraction-from-everyday-life than an actual game ever made me stop and think (like Planescape: Torment did)

I want to try it. I'm very new to RPG's, Gothic was my first and I was blown away. I tried to play wizardry 8 next and just loathed it! I'm about 50/50 for the genre, so I want more exposure to it. Yeah, I think I'd like to play Icewind Dale II.

You should try out it's predecessors, then, they can be had at bargain prices. IWD1, Baldurs Gate, Planescape: Torment. I don't know how much the graphics will improve from those in IWD2, but I'm guessing it won't be by much. They should provide you with a similar gameplaying experience, though.
