Hi all!

Many people asked about the English version and about versions for other languages. Today I can say a bit more about this. Gorasul will definetely come in the following versions:
- English
- German
- French
- Spanish
- Russian
- Italian
- Traditional Chinese

Other languages might follow.

Hello Rendelius!

Hehe, yes, I also think that JoWooD does a good job here. The only thing that definetely makes me a headache is this tradition chinese version. But I guess it will look very funny.

@Stiletto:
You can be sule that I will infolm you abouth the english demo velsion.

I guess that we will have that demo complete in a couple of days. It will base on actual sourcecodes and graphics, so it's much more actual than the German demo.

And there will be a russian version indeed. I just found out that JoWood has signed a deal with Russobit-M to publish, among other games, Gorasul in Russia.

Knowing the Russians it's probably for sale already before they get a chance to distribute it. They already have Arcanum for sale in the stores (illegal versions ofcourse).

I am looking forward to the traditional Chinese version. Kind of like a Kung Fu movie, only backwards!

Just read this post, and wanted to comment on what you said Myrthos.
You are probably right about the Russian copy, I remember hearing in the news sometime ago, that in all of Russia, only 2% of all the copies of Windows 98 are a legitimate version, the rest are illegal.
Thats just crazy...

Vesselle: We have a phrase in Denmark: Necessity, learns a naked man to spin! Or in other words, we learn to adapt to extreme situations, we never thought we would do. Your report from your Russian friends just confirms my belief in a human crises situation for presumable many people in Russia! Our first concern shouldn't be wether they make piracy software or not, but help them upgrade their society to a human adequate level, which I naive believe also would affect the amount of piracy!

In the misogynist country that is Iceland, the phrase is literally 'Neccessity teaches a naked woman how to spin.'

Anyway, the corresponding phrase in English is 'Neccessity is the mother of invention.

I have heard of great big huge-ass malls in Malaysia, where the only merchandise is pirated software, often leaked by malaysians working at the malaysian department of whatever company distributes the game.

I however don't think piracy happens because people are poor. I think it more sort of happens because companies don't care, or aren't visible enough in the country in question.

I would say piracy is fairly common here in Iceland, and Icelander's can hardly be considered poor. It could be because of the sometimes long delays before games ship here, although we usually get an american games before europe does (well, technically, the rest of europe), and european games before america does. I don't pirate games (I work in the industry, so I think it would be sort of like stealing food from my own daughter's mouth or something), but I know people who play pirated copies to judge whether the game is worth purchasing.
Which brings us to playable demos; these should really be taken more into account as marketing tools. There are many games I've bought after playing the demo, games that I wouldn't have glanced at in a shelf otherwise. Gorasul is one game I plan on buying, and perhaps Gothic as well.
