Hey fellow RPG 'dewds'. I got Gothic from BestBuy last week, and was kinda concerned when I found the box ONLY contained 2 CDs, with no printed material, not even a warranty card. Did I get everything I'm supposed to get, or should I bring it back for an exchange? If I keep it, where should I get the manual? I couldn't even find one on the disc - so how the heck was I supposed to figure out that to pick something up I'm supposed to press 'CTRL-<up arrow>'? Do you recommend I patch the game and if so - best place to DL the latest & greatest patch? Finally, any other initial directions or warnings I should receive before embarking upon this great adventure? Thanks so much for your help, fellow gamers - I feel as if I have come home. Sincerely yours...Xeno.

Hi, welcome to the RPGDot forums.

I'm afraid that Gothic doesnt come with a manual any more for some odd reason... But youre not actually missing out on anything, it was pretty confusing hehe.

You can find help (i think its sort of a manual, im not sure) here:

http://gothic.rpgdot.com/index.php?hsaction=10062&game=gothic&l1=Walkthrough&infoID=33

As for patching, unless it doesnt start or it crashes a lot I dont think its necessary. I never patched it until I changed video cards.

(Edited to be understandable...)

Go to that thread as XenonsP. said. The patch is here. http://newspics.rpgdot.com/galview.php?level=3&sort=&from=9&d2=10&d3=Special&d4=&d5=There is a download on that page for the faq they talked about as well. Be sure you download the patch for your language of game.

In the gothic directory there's a readme.htm file with all the info to get you going.
