Gothic 3 System Requierments

World of Gothic is reporting on an article from German magazine PC Games Hardware that purports to have the system requirements for Gothic 3. I'll be accepting donations via PayPal...:

The article states that according to some members of the Piranha Bytes you need at least:

Athlon 64 3000+/P4 2,8 GHz,
1 GB RAM,
Geforce 6800 GT/Radeon X800 Pro

To enjoy Gothic 3 with all details, 4xFSAA and 8:1 AF, a Geforce 7800 GT/GTX is needed. Probably the new Ati Radeon X1000er-series will fulfill the requirements, too.

Your turn, Bethesda.

Thats pretty high first game that says the Geforce 7800 is needed i hope that is all talk i hope this game is optimized lol i feel sorry for all the other ppl with lesser pc's i remember running gothic 2 on my p3 733mhz 512mb radeon 8500 it wasnt fun lol.

My specs are over oh and post you're system specs im curious what you guys are running and if they are above or below those

Here are mine.

Pentium 4 (800MHz FSB)
3Ghz
1.5Gb PC 3200 DDR Ram (400MHz)
ATI Radeon X850XT 256MB GDDR3
Sound Blaster Audigy 2
120GB HD

I think thats everything i never run my games with that FSAA crap honestly its not much of a difference and you get horrible fps i run games on full settings on 1024x768 with no fsaa etc.

Alright lets see you're specs lol.

I wouldn´t consider infos in a print mag as a hard source, especially if we don´t know (yet) what exactly they´ve written. The specs sound unrealistic to me.

Post you're specs Gorath lol.

Yeah obviously this is way to high hardly any one will have those top of the line cards most people own a Radeon 9800 pro or what ever is equal in Nvidia.

PB is far from ready. They are still working with a pre-alpha version, so how could they know the specs this early.

I think the magazine has heard some specs going around and just thought to take the as minimum specs, while they probably have to do with the working machines of PB or the specs needed to run the far from optimised alpha version.

I'm co-owner of a hard- and software store, so my computers' specs change on a weekly base... just as new parts come in. Should I need new parts to play a certain game, I'll go over to storage and fetch them.
Well, I'm not worried about G3's supposed specs.

Sorry to have to say this, but that is a load of bull.

Piranha bytes knows better than to do something utterly idiotic like this;

look at the stats here

2.8 GHZ
1GB RAM
X800

= only hardcore gamers can play this game.

This is ridiculous. Making minimum system requirements like this, Piranha bytes would be cutting their sales in half, at the least!

This is even high for recommended system specs. If it was recommended, perhaps I might take it into consideration.

but minimum? HAH! Idiocy.

Well, I have I computer that meet those requirements, but I can hardly believe PB would want to release a game with such requirements, it would exclude a lot of potential buyers.

If you're interested, this is my computer:
Athlon64 3500+ @ 2.4 GHz
1GB PC3200
Radeon X800XT PE 256MB
Audigy2
490GB HDD

Squeek!

Maybe I will have to upgrade my computer if the requirements will be too harsh

Its quite possible that these specs are from someone who is honest about getting an enjoyable gaming experience.

The same thing happened with Battlefield 2, one of the Dev's in an interview stated that it would require 2GB of ram and a high end card like a 7800, and he is pretty spot on if you want to play it how its supposed to look.

The actualy min-system requirements on the BF2 box are a lot less than what he stated, which will likely be the case with G3. But I bet these specs (or something pretty close) will be what you'll need to get flawless gameplay with everything maxxed out.

It was a misunderstanding. I posted the update in the news thread yesterday.

Be happy!
