Help - White Screen

Hey guys, just got my greasy fingers on this potential gem.
Anyway the game loads fine, into movie plays fine, but upon new character selection the background is BRIGHT white. What I mean is I can see the selection menus, ie. race, hair etc. but I can't see the picture representation.
Additionally, upon hitting ok, the game loads fine and I can see I am in-game, but the screen is blazingly white. To the point that I can just barely make out a couple objects in the first room.
If I attempt to turn down brightness (which is at mid, but would never make enough of a diff here) the game crashes upon hitting return.

So I dunno, any help?
I meet min specs (barely), but my card is not listed as a supported ATI card (though it has performed acceptably in all previous games, even when not supported)
2.4ghz
512ram
128mb radeon 9100 (is this the prob?)

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated,
rordog

System lab requirments lists me failing on two areas for min specs:
pixel shader 2.0 - i have 1.4
vertex shader 2.0 - i have 1.1
I don't imagine the 9100 being 2.0 compliant because that is a fairly new thing, but nowhere on the min specs posted for the game does it say the 3d card needs shader 2.0 compliability.
Infact it just states that it needs 128mb direct 3d card.
This kinda sucks cause now I am stuck with an expensive game that I thought I would be able to play (just barely).
And upgrades are out of the question as I'm getting a new comp in less than 1 yr.
If anybody has any suggestions plz feel free.

Yes, as you can see from the list of supported GPU's, your 9100 is not there

ATI Radeon 9800 series
ATI Radeon 9700 series
ATI Radeon 9600 series
ATI Radeon 9500 series
ATI Radeon 9000 series

If I recall it correctly, 9100 is actually renamed (well nearly only renamed) 8500. That means it is actually one generation behind 9000 series. That's why it doesn't support 2.0 shaders and that's why it can't run game.

9100 was intended to be very low-level GPU focused also on being implemented as integrated graphic chip. As such, it is not suitable for playing games and especially the new and graphic-intensive once. I believe that even if you would be able to run the game, it would be nearly unplayeable.

Don't get me wrong, I know that 9100 is actually faster than 9000, yet the difference here is that it is actually 8500 (unlike 9000).

Hope this helps.

Thanks Danicek, I didn't actually know that the 9100 was renamed to the 8500, but that would explain why I never see 9100 listed anywhere.
I knew the time would come that I needed a new card.
I'll see if I can scoop up a 9800 or something for cheap, just to hold me over for another year till I upgrade to a new comp.
It was a good run for my 9100 and it was actually a solid performing card.

The 9800 is an aging card itself - I'd suggest you look into a 6600GT (makes sure it's "GT")...they really don't cost that much and they support SM3.0, so they do a fair job with Oblivion.

I am with Dhruin on this. 6600GT is solid card for the money. It is really cheap nowadays. Very good decision if you are really on budget.

ty for the advice guys. I am pretty flexible at this point and have decided not to really hurry (real life priorities). I imagine I will grab a 6600gt or something soon. First I have to make sure I have all my ducks lined up, so to speak.
