If I were you I wouldn't train both strength and dex. As you've noticed you need a lot more experience points to train up, and weapons require higher rating to use. I don't think you'll have enough to do both.

If you talk to a fisherman on the beach near where the knights are training he'll put you on the right track. He mentions a beach just north of the harbour.

I'm stumped with the Joe quest too. I suspect he'll be with the missing people.

Party on.

1) All skills cost more when you've got a higher amount of it.

0-30: 1 LP per point
30-60: 2 LP per point
60-90: 3 LP per point
90-120: 4 LP per point
above 120: 5 LP per point.

That's new in NotR to increase the difficulty.

2) You can learn to read the language that is used on the tablets. They will give you bonusses (+strength, +dex, etc.) when you know how to understand the texts on the tablets.

3) that's a big quest, you need to tell what you've done already, otherwise I'm spoiling too much.

4) You'll need a key from one of the militia (Peck), he is accidentally locked in the tower near Bosper.

Actually "joe" quest was allready in orginal gothic 2. This fellow called Joe has been locked in the guard's tower (its the tower infront of Constantino). To free him, you have to get a key obviously. The militia man, Peck has the key. To get his key, you have to either beat him or pickpocket him. Peck can be found in Red lantern upstairs.

Sorry, no such map AFAIK. Just look around everywhere you go.

EDIT: Sorry, my response was for in-game maps. There are net resources where this info hase been compiled and added to maps of Gothic areas.
