It is not possible to import a BG2 character into IWD2.

The Importance of Importation

Thanks for the reply Val. Atleast I can stop beeting my head against a brick wall. But, I forgot to ask about Never Winter Nights? BG2 claims that I can successfuly import my characters, but I can't figure it out. I didn't like NWN as much as the BG cames, but I might try it out again if I could import some of my characters.

Uh... no. BG2 characters are based on 2nd edition rules. You'd have to recreate the character to play them in NWN since it uses the 3rd edition ruleset.

Actually, you -can- import from BG2 to NWN. How? I don't know, but if it isn't possible then Black Isle is lying. During the load screens it states pretty simply that you can.

So perhaps rather then saying it's impossible, you should look into it first.

From the official Technical FAQ:

quote:
1.06: Can I import my character from the Baldur's Gate series? (Back to Top)

Initially we had hoped to transfer Baldur's Gate characters over to the Neverwinter Nights game but after working with the completely different rules, engine, graphics and character attributes, we could not see any purpose to stripping an old character of all items (as Neverwinter Nights starts the player at first level), all experience, all additional level bonuses and leaving them with just their name. We decided against the ability to transfer characters.

Hope that helps clear things up.

Oh this is so hilarious, guest I think you are actually the one who should look into this first

-On topic: playing this game right now, I like it quite a bit, though it is constantly challenging, your chars get a hundred times more powerful during the game, but you never kick serious butt because the enemies get stronger as least as quickly Sometimes it's just fun to see how powerful your pc's are by wacking scores of weaker enemies imo.

I found the last battle close to impossible. I ended up having to use a cheap tactic with my bard to win it. I think my party just wasn't constructed in the right way to win it.
