Yes, but you should read this: Hi all

I hope we tried to include the best of both worlds.

There are situations where you can't play in 1st person mode,
e.g. during dialogs, fighting, focus interactions etc.

This was primary a decision because we want all those animations to be visible, so that argument, gothic is a third person game is not
totally wrong *g*

And don't panic, there is enough 1st person left to become more immersed
in certain situations.

so when can you use 1st person? if you can use it talking, fighting, or during interactions...what is left? walking? i can walk in 1st person but if anything happens i end up in 3rd? DZD, i like 3rd person just fine but i don't think i understand your post. can you clarify a bit? thanks.

1st > 3rd and back again
   

As long as there is a strong(er) element of 1st person over what was - virtually - non-existant in Gothic1, that's fine by me.

I use 3rd person simply to admire my finery (that's armoury to you).
