4 GB hard disk space? I can see in future we will have games that requires 10 GB or more of HD space. _________________

Just for the record, my system is just barely over the minimum specs and it plays beautifully.
AMD T-bird 1.4
Gigabyte GA-7VTX (VIA chipset)
512MB DDR 266FSB
Leadtek Geforce3 (45.23 Drivers)
Win 98SE
No patches installed. Most settings are at medium or high, but AA and AF are off.
I read a lot about it before I bought it and was worried my system wouldn't be up to snuff, or I'd have to play it with everything turned off, but my fears were unfounded. The graphics are gorgeous, and it is still totally playable.
I'm getting about 20 FPS, which isn't bad.
Nor have I run into the slowdown in the apartments everyone is talking about. And after a five hour session, no crashes either.
Gotta go. I'm off on another marathon session. |

I installed the game on my PIII-650, 256 MB ram, 64 MB Geforce2-MX400 machine. My CPU is very low according to the minimum requirements. But, it is still playable. Ram and video card are ok for the game. I am recommending the game to all RPG players. It can easy be the best RPG game of the year. (A real opponent to Gothic 2) |

Well I could be wrong about this since I am not an expert in this area and I haven't even got hold of the game yet, but for those people who are on or below minimum specs and yet able to run the game rather smoothly, one of the factors might be the operating system. Those of you with systems that just reach the minimum specs seems to be running Windows 98se. While those on higher-end systems seems to be running Win XP. Win XP is a resoure hog and as you can see from the system requirements, Win XP also has a higher requirement than Win 98se. |

Nooooo!
I just bought the game thinking that i met the minimum requirements.
I have a geforce4 and plenty of space.
it said that i didnt have a 1.4 compatible PCI or AGP 2d hardware accelerator, at least i think so.
is there anything i can do about that? |

Update your drivers, and make sure you are running the latest version of DirectX as well. |

Go to the Nvidia website, and get the latest "forceware" drivers, version 52.16. There is a link to them in the "top 5 downloads" section on the main page. Follow the instructions that come with them (generally the best).
An Nvidia fan website like www.nvnews.net might have some other instructions or at least help in the forums should something go wrong.
Also, some people swear by a "clean install" where you remove the old drivers before you install the new ones. It isn't always necessary though. _________________ 9700Pro, AMD64 3200+, WinXP-Win98SE

Mookmaster, you read my thouts before I had them
Unfortunatly I'm working from a laptop and the nvidia drivers that include OpenGL 1.4 aren't availible from toshiba, nvnews does have a relivant thread in their forum, unfortunately they're refrencing another thread on a site that nolonger exists. Any thoughts? _________________ The problem with programers is that we can type out 32 character long strings without errors, but we can't spell worth a damn. |
