It has been pointed out before, but black is almost invisble on two of our three forum templates. A reasonably large percentage of our users do not use icicle, which is the only template black is visible.

I think red is neither the best nor worst color to post. At least it's better than some over-brightening color.

I am running the Icicle Board Style, and it has the dark blue forum background. Red is easy to read, but the black, that takes a little concentration.

Although I hate to read it, I think the red colour is a nice touch and it does fit very well with your picture. I'd keep it if I were you. People can adjust.
