I'm not really sure what I am.

Atheism is more or less the same as a religion because it takes faith to believe that there is no god. So, in my opinion, is in no position to insult another religion for having faith in a god.

Here is the actual definition of an atheist:
'one who believes that there is no deity'

Now, Agnosticism, on the other hand does not take faith for either side.

The definition of one who is Agnostic:
'one who is not committed to believing in either the existence or the nonexistence of God or a god'

What I'm saying is that Atheists are only fooling themselves by saying that they are any better for believing there is no god.

It's possible that God are the "little green men" but we mistaken them as God. Actually God wouldn't be little green men either because according to the bible, men is created with their image, so aliens can look exactly like human.

Sounds like a cult known as the Raelians. These are the guys who supposedly cloned a human child. Are you in on this. When are we going to see your mysterious friends clone the first human child?

This is more believable that the bible? A document that mentions thousands of people and places that actually existed and can be verified with archaeology and history books? Man, I wish I was as enlightened as you!!!

Raelians? who the hell are they? Oh no. I am not into this cult thing. Don't jump into conclusion here. I got my info from being bored and read around all UFO sites on the web for entertainment purposes. I have however heard of this Urantia book? or something similar. Basically it's an attempt to re-translate the bible and more. Do I believe it? Absolutely not, but entertaining nevertheless.

What I was saying is you should at least research all other religions and look at all other alternative arguments before choosing your own religion. After you do that, you could still be a christian (although chances are you won't), but you are already better.

I always wanted to be a Zoroastrian, 'cause I thought that was a cool religion, and Manichaeism makes for a pretty comfortable black&white outlook on life, too. Unfortunately, I find myself utterly unable to belief even a little in anything but a strictly rational view of the world according to the principles of the ancient philosophers, Descartes and the great scientific minds of the past centuries. Too bad, really, since religion offers such a nice, feel-good alternative where you don't have to worry a bit about death, injustice and morality, as it's all in some god's or other's will...

It's alright, Val. You don't have to forced yourself to go to church. Even missing the chance to read scriptures or say prayers isn't a big deal either, so don't insist on doing it or feel quilty about it. It's good to try to live right, and maybe leading a happy and sober lives. Satan and demon are overhyped adversaries, Good vs Evil is concept that overstayed its wellcome.

Keep the "Fallen from grace" mantra.

I'm an atheist, and I do believe there is no deity whatsoever. But I fail to see why in your eyes I apparently also feel I'm better then someone who does believe in a deity because of that.
I simply don't care where someone believes or doesn't believe in.

Bravo Myrthos. I'm a catholic(a non practicing on) and I fully concer with your point of view.

@Joeman: seems you changed thought since you're first post a bit. My interpretation was that you feel enlightened above all religious people. I'm still not OK with one thing though, you look down on people who just follow the others. I believe that I'm absolutely no better then another and I admire most people who are truelly faithfull. I say most cause I'm also for one thing else: complete sepparation of religion and state.

I'm absolutely positive about the fact that in France people can't ware religious objects when (and during) they work for the governement. They also made it for public schools, but that is less nescessary IMO. I don't understand why only the islam feels itself attacked by such a rule. IMHO, this is just the normal way and gives more respect to other people.

I'd say I'm agnostic, leaning heavily at atheism.

Isn't it required, or at least more enforced for the women to wear those... scarves (which is the correct word?) in Islam, which is why it's worse for muslims? It's not as enforced to wear a huge cross necklace or anything in Christianity.

I think there should be both an ‘I don’t know’ choice and an ‘other’ answer choices. I could see agnostic as being ‘I don’t know,’ both I think Jaz and I are both definitely ‘others.’

According to that quiz Lintra is a Neo-Pagan. *Another other*

And by the way, I do think that I am better than others, but that’s just because I’m in Myrthos’ signature. *g*

@Myrthos: I never meant to imply that all atheists say they are better, that was just directed toward the ones that do.

I'm an atheist who wonder why people need some virtual ( non"measurable?" ) entity to answer metaphysics questions.
