Mistmare

Hello all

So, I just saw today that Mistmare has gone gold. This has kinda sneaked up on me and I don't really know too much about it. I mooched over to the homepage and I reckon its looks very promising indeed. Whats the general opinion of people here "in the know". I know I could down load the demo but with my modem at home, it will be out before I finish downloading it.

Is it gonna be good? What do people think?

Well I liked the game besides one thing. The camera, there is a patch that makes it work better but still I don't know why the Devs didn't use a camera mode like in Gothic.

The fights are good and spedning several hours playing the demo was worth it.

The demo had a truly awful control setup but to their credit they responded quickly with major modifications. It's still not without flaws but it's a pretty original gameworld and I think it's quite good, not to mention there's not too many competing RPG's to buy at the moment.

I think Garrett is doing an RPGDot review at some stage so look forward to that at some point.

I downloaded the demo and yes, navigation was awful. Haven't tried with the patch. Just don't feel like doing it again. It has one thing I've never seen in a game before: if, or better *when* you die, you have an option to lower the difficulty of the area you died in. So, if you were fighting ten level mosters, next time they'll be like level 6, next time level 4, and so on. I think this is a neat feature.

I really liked the writing I read in it( the demo). The story of the mist and the bell ringers, and all the characters dialogue.

fighting is handled like nwn, click on a monster and your character fights it...

But from the demo I have no idea if its going to be a good game.
