Played Gothic 2 first and have a bug with Gothic 1

Hi all,

I enjoyed Gothic 2 so much I decided to play the first game. I didn't find any patches so I assume I have the updated version but in the old camp, I use frying pans while I have my meat inventory item selected and the meat doubles!! I now have 10,000 pieces of meat! LOL In Gothic 2, when I did an action on the frying pan it automatically cooked the meat. It's not working in Gothic 1. Any tips? Is this a common bug? I haven't been able to use beds either.

If your character can't sleep, something in your installation has gone corrupt. A reinstall would be your best option I guess.

As for patches, the English language version came pre-patched, and there's one additional patch specifically for Radeon users which solves a few graphics problems (but it won't hurt to use this nevertheless, even if you don't have a Radeon). You'll find it at

Thanks Jaz. I figured out what I was doing wrong. Apparently, Gothic I is a little more picky than Gothic II. If you're not in the wright position, it won't let you cook, sleep or just use objects in general. Thanks for telling me about the Radeon patch because I have one. I didn't see a patch at the Gothic official website but found that 1.08 patch here after looking more. I don't know if I needed it but I installed it, I'll look for the Radeon patch too.

My friend found a patch on Fileplanet (www.fileplanet.com) and he used it to fix a problem he where the game crashed whenever he tried to go to a certain place (I won't say where here because it is a spoiler).

I ran into a very annoying bug yesterday.

After Nyras said "No more templars and gurus. Only me myself alone. Die!!!."

Then he said "Sorry, gotta go." and just sprinted away. I kid you not. I cannot get the focus stone from him. How annoying.

Reload and kill him with the console.
