Why Gothic on a PS2... The original poster asked for that on a web forum, so I assume he has a PC (and probably one which can play the game).
I really donīt understand the console fuzz too much anyway. The games are more expensive, cause the console manufacturer tries to cut its share out of the price (usually 30%). There is DRM everywhere, you have to play on a TV, which is really bad unless you have HDTV (blurry picture 50/60 Hz flickering etc...) the controller choice is limited.
Than there is one company in front which decides for you what games are published and what not, and even worse who is allowed to develop ( the original Gothic probably wouldnīt even have a chance to be published as a console only title cause the developer was totally unknown). And to the worse a console basically is a computer which is crippled down to you only are allowed to what Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo allows you to do. (Unlike the home computers of the eighties, they basically were computers which allowed everything and a stable hardware, they combined the advantages of both the console and PC world)
The only advantage I see is, that the games aber better tested, cause you donīt have a patch possiblitiy (which will change as soon as the things are on the net then you will see the same patch hell as well) and it is the current hip thing everybody runs into cause they push those things with huge marketing bugdets. |
