I read the entire article and think the author has too high expectations of a MMO.
Having played this genre of games for about 6 years now I have experienced quite the opposite of Blizzard's Euro Tech support myself.
Granted, I haven't asked for much tech- or GM help but the few times I did I got an answer in a timely manner. And that's a lot more then what most other MMO companies have been or are doing.
A lot of bugs get fixed, or at least reckognized, relativly quick in my opinion.
And Blizzard frequently give extra game days when there is serious downtime.
In my experience most other companies simply ignore downtime and the hassle it gives their clients alltogether.
Yes, I've had times that I couldn't log in, servers were down longer then announced, I ran into bugs, had lag, etc etc, but all MMO's have that.
In that respect WoW is no exception.
The waiting queue's on some servers are annoying but it keeps the realms from crashing so that's probably a good thing. (eventhough it really sucks if you have to wait 10 minutes before you can play...)
The great number of players also seems to be overwhelming Blizzard, that indeed is a good point, but it's also a sign that they simply made a great game that is fun to play.
And that's the bottom line of any game I play: Fun.
And I find that in WoW the majority of the time. |
