My personal opinion is that Gadgeteer is only interesting and not strong character.

I think link from Val will help you and it will give you enough informations.

Good luck.

If used correctly a Gadgeteer can be as strong as any other character class. What you have to realize is that a gadgeteer's strengths arent so much in dmg although given the right ammo they can be lethal with thier omniguns but thier strengths actually lie in thier ability to KO,Paralyze, poison & numerous other effects on thier omnigun plus they get gadgets that most often when you find/make them the effects are actually stronger than any spell cast versions.

Gadgeteers can use the *Light*Sword*
Equip him with that and his Omnigun MK12 with Tai'Li stones....yikes!

My old gadgy from my first party kicked some major butt. The most useful gadgets can't be found or used until very late in the game, but once you get them they make a HUGE difference. The vacuum pump can be really devastating sometimes .

One thing I would recommend though is to make your gadgy a female, for the stamina amulet. Those high level gadgets eat stamina like crazy.

early on they are kind of weak but by the end of the game they are pretty good. Also, they can make triple shot crossbows by combining light crossbows and you can give those to most of your party members as an alternate for long range attacks. Combing those with Ferro's lightning bolts and you've got some serious damage. Make sure you carry lots of ammo though at three shots per round they run out fast.

Trust me when I tell you. You do NOT want to mess with a Gadgy with an Armeggedon attachment on his omnigun. Please don't bring up Tai-li stones either

I don't remember the female-only stamina necklace being very good. I think it only adds +1 stamina per round. That's not any help in battle! There are much more important items to put in one of your two slots than that cheap little necklace. So, it isn't at all necessary to make your gadgeteer female.

I think you've just gotta be ready with a rest all or stamina spell/potion.

Maybe I'm not remembering correctly.

Please let me know if I've got it wrong.

Agreed its not very useful in battle so you wear 2 other items in necklace slots. After battle though if you have almost or even only half of you stamina you can save mana by just putting the necklace on the bard or gadgeteer & they regain stamina extremely fast. The other benifit to wearing one of these is that if you make your characters run when your walking around thier stamina drops & if you enter a battle with your stamina dropped then you have less stam to use the gadgets. Wearin the stam necklace will keep you from losing stamina as badly when you make your characters run.

There are some items in the game which are female only, but there are none that are male only. So making a female party is actually the best.
Besides it makes the Al-Sedexus scene ...more 'interesting'. *giggle*

Also, there are some better items later in the game for regenerating stamina. I'll leave it to you to figure out which ones.

Also, the stamina necklace is helpful in battle. Especially during tough fights when you dont have the turns to spare for casting rest spells. Or when you run out of magic points, die, fall unconsious, etc....

Bards and Gadgeteers should always have some stamina regenerating item on, in my opinion. They just aren't effective characters without them.

Actually there are male only items but most are pactically useless. The Chieftans Sceptre or mace or some such thing im pretty sure was male only. (Stolen weapon off chief gari).
