It can't be too real for me!
What a feeling that world will give, imagine yourself walking through some dark cave and suddenly such a minecrawler attacks you.

I'd be happy to upgrade my pc for that.

What´s HDR?
Maybe Gamebryo has it as a standard feature?

Ahh!! That's what I aboslutely loved about the mines in Gothic! I really missed that part in the sequel.
I remember it like it was yesterday... there I was, all alone in the dark depths of the earth. The spell of light shining above me... *Hiss* *Gasp* what's was that? Good Innos, they're coming! And then, the light disappeared, leaving me blind and surrounded by those deadly creatures! *Hiss* Aieee!! *Dies*

@Mercenary: Now that you mention it, it does look a bit. Another thing I wish that would look in the same style as it did.

I'd be really happy with that! With my PC, I can't play this game at all.

Edit: Minecrawler thing - still, it looks amazing!

What´s HDR?

High Dynamic Range lighting.

I'm certainly no expert in explaining HDR but I'll try

HDR means 'High Dynamic Range' and basically enables much more natural lighting and lighting effects in computer games. When used wisely HDR will make the whole scene more alive and realistic, lighting wise. Light seems to reflect from surface to surface, moving from dark area to bright looks realistic ("eyes" adjust to light change) and vice versa etc., just like in real-life. No more 'flat' and dead looking lighting in games.

But videos explain HDR much better. So here we go

Here's a cool technology video. One of the things it does is HDR:

Precomputed global illumination
Spherical Harmonics approx. of BRDF
HDR (Tone Mapping) (automatic exposure adaption etc.)
Water simulation (Fresnel/Refraction)

Half-Life 2: Lost Coast HDR video: http://www.gamershell.com/download_8975.shtml (166MB)

'Real-time High Dynamic Range Image-Based Lighting' demo: http://www.daionet.gr.jp/~masa/rthdribl/index.html

Far Cry HDR pages (fan-made, lots of videos and screenshots):

http://gotfrags.net/images/hdr2/hdr3.html

Favourite example shots: http://gotfrags.net/images/hdr/nohdr1.jpg vs. http://gotfrags.net/images/hdr/hdr1.jpg

Current games that use HDR are:

Far Cry v1.31 (only GF6)
Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory (only GF6)
Half-Life 2 (coming soon)

Are they going to use Bloom?

I hope if they do they keep it to a minimum and only in certain area's/places where it'd have more of an impact. Too many games have bloom to simply have it and over-use it for everything, it's better suited for making the atmosphere of a certain thing feel more unique/different. Like in a dungeon/dream type thing then for the entire game everywhere.

I don't know if that's put of HDR or what though....
