Paul,

first of all I'd try it at Bethesda Softworks, makers of the game. http://www.bethsoft.com. Be aware that Daggerfall, as enthrilling as it is, is DOS, old, buggy, even with the patch. Nevertheless, it is still one of my favorites, and when I look to my left, I see it standing on the shelf

I still load that game up from time to time. Never really went anywhere with the story-line either, just love the non-linear aspect of the game.

I've got it for sale, infact I have it in my drawer at work next to me right now. I'm selling it for $2 which would work out to be about 70p for you. I'm also selling Arena for $2.

Too bad I'm 16,000 kms away.

Hmmm, I checked the store at Bethsofts site, its not being sold there anymore (even though Arena still is) so it could have been pushed to AbandonWare. Either way, I still have my original cd sitting on my shelf next to me

It seems as if a Daggerfall renaisance is under way. As for getting it to work, try

http://www.dynamic.gameplay.com/~ultima9/ubb/Forum1/HTML/002177.html

There is currently a long thread about to get it functioning, and tips on the game. Its ironic, but I started replaying myself before all the recent interest. Practice for Morrowind.

I know this thread is old, but here is a theory on why the game is no longer on Bethsoft's site for sale (and in Abandonware sites now).

I think they might included Daggerfall for free along with Morrowind when it ships.
It's a fuzzy memory, but a couple years ago, I suggested it to them to someone I was familiar with who worked for Bethsoft (I think that was around the time I was working for some game-review type of site).
I don't remember what they said about that, I didn't archive any of this, but they could have said they were thinking about it or something or that maybe others suggested the same thing or something, shit, I dunno, I don't remember. It was way back and all that.

UHH, anyways, I DO remember suggesting it and maybe a bunch of others had the same idea.
I MEAN, anyone who played Daggerfall wondered where the SVGA graphics were, and didn't like all the bugs.
How about, they revamp it and release a "Gold" version with updated graphics and patched better. OR, just re-release it for free along with Morrowind. And why not Arena too? Well, simply, Daggerfall is OLD and antiqudated (uh, I think I spelled that right). ARENA is EVEN OLDER than Daggerfall! It probably wouldn't even run (alot of old DOS games don't run on modern systems).

As for the Abandonware, Bethsoft could easily sue those sites with Daggerfall, get some kind of Cease and Desist order and have them pull it off, cuz they were still selling it (people do still play it!).
Why would they take it off their site and not react to these Abandonware sites?
1) They aren't aware sites are doing this.
2) The same as #1, plus, the game was not selling (due to the abandonware sites).
3) They don't give a shit.
4) The webmaster for their site store fucked up the page by accident.
5) They are going to give it away for free either before or with Morrowind.
6) Who cares.
7) It's an evil government conspiracy.
