That's a weapon; Cobaltine Powerglove. You can get it, but not from there. I don't know if it works in a patched game, but you can kill the Savant before the very end, and he'll still show up again, complete with a new CP.
I don't remember how to kill him earlier, but it is in an old thread around here somewhere...I never did it myself, but i think you can start combat with the keyboard when he's blustering at you before the final scene, and if you get him in the right place, the weapon drops where you can reach it.

I also struggled with this the first time around. Wiz8 drove me insane. So I didn't enjoy it enough the first time around. But thanks to the folks in this website, I got my answers quickly. It was exciting, then, to play the game again with the Gadgeter because I knew then what items combine with what. And I also knew where most of the valuable Bard instruments were. Wiz8 has this unique replayability, just like Diablo 1/2, that makes me wonder, "Now that I've conquered it, I wonder how I would do with just 5 characters in a higher difficulty level...or can I survive with only 4?" Even to this day, I'm still experimenting with different character combinations.

Well, i'm currently back in W-7 to try my first smaller party there: Rawulf Lord, Hobbit Bard and Ranger, and a Human Monk. I only got to import one party before i lost the ability to use W-7, but now i have a new one. I'll be back with Import News when i get done with W-7...i want to start in Umpland first, get me some Swords of Hearts...
