I think its part of an blades quest, you find it in a Dagoth Ur shrine somewhere in the ashlands. Dont know where exactly...

Mucksponge is a plant... Muck comes out of mucksponge. Apothecaries and Alchemists like the stuff.

Mucksponge can also be found next to a house in Gnisis.

There are several big white round sponge looking things next to a house in the middle of Gnisis. Those are mucksponges and you can collect from them for free.

They look like giant (as tall as you) light colored urns, if that helps. They're all over the place.

its all over gnisis and its by fort moon moth i tihnk or maybe fort buckmoth.hmmm..its one of the two

Fort Moonmoth is the one by Balmora and has no mucksponges near it, so I'm guessing it's the other one.
