Gothic 2 International Release Rather Sooner Than Later |
|
While there is nothing official on the US release for Gothic 2 now, Gorath, webmaster from our site GothicDot told us that one of our forum users has written to JoWooD about the international release - and this is part of what he received back:

No, the delay hasnīt anything to do with that.
1. it took a while to get all the voiceovers final and through QA.
2. And we were looking for a strong partner to distribute that internationally. And as you might have heard, we found that partner, who will release the game (Infogrames)
So, this is the first time someone from JoWooD named an international distributor for the game (when I phoned them a couple of days ago, they weren't able to name him). If it is indeed Infogrames, this would be good news for the launch, since they have the power to push the game a great bit. |

Great news! Infogrames can't possibly mess this up as much as JoWood. But then, my six year old neighbour would handle the release smoother than JoWood. |

Itīs not that easy. If you donīt know it:
Publishers have to pay for shelf space in the big retail chains. If they donīt pay their games end up somewhere in the background.
Dozens of publishers, hundreds of games, but only so much shelf space. _________________ Webmaster GothicDot |

Ignore the last post (forgot to login!......lol )
It was my who spoke to Jowood, my original question was,
"is the delay of Gothic 2 due to protection software?" this is good news, as infogrames are a well established publisher and should handle it very well.

While this certainly is encouraging news, I am still waiting for that official word from Jowood before I get excited. |

Yes, copy protection is absolutely necessary. This way all the legal users can have these nice problems and crashes with the game |
