Obviously not. As of now I am not only getting the flash Fable ad & the Ryzom pop up one, but a new Fable flashe appeared.
This is madness.

I'm guessing 'no'.

Well, today I get my first popup in a good long while. But still no Fable, and still the top advert banner remains blank.

Is it an IE-only thing, perchance?

You can suppress the Fable ad and the pop-up with the Opera browser. Just install it and go to the quickoptions in the file menu. Disable pop-ups and disable plug-ins (-> disables flash).
The usual forum stuff works very well in Opera.
I have been told there are similar solutions in Firefox.

Well if we are going to have to go through these adds every other time we open a page we should at least get a prize for the amount of times we dont smash in our computer screen in frustration
Eg. 100 pop ups equals new car

Yes Firefox can make all the ads here go away; plus with Adblock you can block specific portion (graphics, ads) of webpage for faster surfing.
