If you can call running for my life, from an impossibly strong Wild Vampire, running around Balmora asking the guards for help (and of course they dont lift a finger), then yeah i guess i roleplay.
BTW, does anyone know a really good tactic on HOW TO KILL A FREAKING WILD VAMPIRE that would be helpful thanx. my guy Ammon is 6th level and these bastard nosferatus keep showing up after dark EVERY NIGHT. grrr, and i have no idea which plugin out of all 150+ plugins i have loaded into my game is the culprit... hmmm i wonder if i became a vampire they would be nice to me then? |

@Remus: But playing Barbie doll is the best feature of games like MW...

Ammon777; first, the guards should intervene when you get attacked by those wild vampires (they attack them in my game); second, an enchanted weapon (any decent enchanted weapon, you don't need an uber weapon) and some restore health potions will do the job; finally, both adventurers npcs and Giants add wild vampires (I have both installed), maybe some others as well. Make sure that you have the most recent mod versions as earlier versions of some mods don't have guards reacting (for example the mod savage orcs doesn't have guards reacting to in town orc attacks but the above two do).
Now back to topic. I do role play. My character has a view on right and wrong (surprisingly, similar to my own). MW is full of opportunities to make moral choices. My character will only join certain guilds/factions and will not do all quests. He is on the side of 'good', at least how he defines it but recognizes that there will always be moral ambiguity in the world/game. He is an uneasy member of the Thieves Guild because, although stealing is hardly the moral high ground, it opposes other, more evil factions. He belongs to all the Imperial factions, House Redoran, and the Fighters/ Mages/Thieves Guilds - but completes quests - or not - to his own moral standards, not necessarily those of his bosses. His allegiances may change as he gains a greater understanding of the real goals of some of the factions - or factions within factions. He is becoming aware that not all is as it seems and is treading carefully until more evidence becomes available.
It is the fact that I can do all this (plus add dozens of mods that add even more factions/subplots) that raises MW well above what it would otherwise be - a FPS (first person slasher). While I have no problems with someone playing it as a powergaming hack and slash, I would not be starting my fifth character if that was all there was to the game. I do intend to finish the game this time, with both expansions and 141 mods loaded - at MW 3X to ensure my level increases match the game play available, to see where all this moral ambiguity eventually leads. I am also being very careful to avoid most of the powergaming tricks that I learned the first 4 times through since I have learned that invincibility greatly detracts from the experience. So I am now a level 20 adventurer (and at MW 3X that is a lot of play) and have no uber weapons/armour/items, no permanenet enchantments, just a poor (well actually not so poor anymore) adventurer who fixes his own armour, makes his own potions, hopes someday to make his own arrows (gotta find a fletchers kit sometime) and travels Vvardenfell looking for wrongs to right, people to assist and monsters/ baddies to slay. _________________ Virtual Adventurer Ranger |
